Edited: update, at least one example has been shown on C24 as loose case already, see below

(To be clear, I don’t believe anyone provided proof the cases were sold earlier as parts, there was just recollection of them being sold loose. I already assumed these watches were put together before someone said that, so I didn’t feel the need to spend time researching and documenting. But again, I believe so far there has been conjecture, but not proof, that these are assembled).

This is pretty close to a smoking gun: https://omegaforums.net/threads/universal-geneve-watches-on-ebay.3584/post-2491350

But I do acknowledge that one cobbled together watch does not imply all watches with a similar configuration and close serial number are also cobbled together

Depends on what you call legit I suppose. If putting watches together from various parts, including service dials, and selling them for astronomical prices is legit 🤔
The real question is who is putting them together. I don’t know anything about the seller, how they source and prep inventory, if they are selling consignment from others, etc.
Fair point! When you put it that way, doesn’t sound legit at all 😀

Good point. It's certainly not one I would select for the website given the extraordinary range of Tri Compax examples out there.

I just looked up the seller for the first time ever. This is from their website about their values, the words in pink highlighted by me. I'm not trying to do a dealer take down, as I've not spent any time researching these particular watches, and I don't have the time or interest to do so. But if someone does, you can always just reach out and ask them about it and see what they say.

It is all beginning to come together ... there was some talk about some NOS UG tri cases and 60s UG tri dials that appared and disappared just as quickly on Chrono 24. Sounds like this may well be that batch ...

I had not registered what these watches sold for, one was $32K and the other $37K, that is crazy money 😲
That is crazy money. I do wonder who is paying that sort of price for a tri compax moon. I suppose that as long as seller is upfront and honest about provenience, there would be nothing illicit going on. It would be good to have links to sales so that reference and serial numbers could be added to Tri compax moon catalog.

Where did you get these numbers from? I have different records.

Interestingly, the same reference with the same service dial is also featured in the Sala's book, but that one doesn't appear to be any of the others previously mentioned.

my mistake, I'm traveling atm and the website showed in my local currency while still using the $ symbol, so I just assumed it was USD.

Does sala show the case serial for the above?

Not surprised … I imagine Breitling is watching these sales with great interest.
