Saw this NOS Diastar for $550 at a local shop. It's a LE of 600. It's ref. 636.0557.3.

Are there any red flags, and would this be a good deal?

I would never buy a watch that doesn't hold its value. This is one of those brands.

I bought a Diastar 117 years ago when I was in college. Still have it. Love it.

You'd be missing on so many amazing brands/references if you just look at watches as monetary assets, IMHO.

Amen. I’d just double check known examples as I rarely see officially certified on diastars but there are so many variants it’s probably just fine. I would love to pick one up they are funky and unique but I get things to wear and enjoy monetary gain is not my primary driver. Money can quickly hinder collecting what catches your eye but if you sell a lot of things I guess you would look at things differently. I’ll get a side job or rob a bank if I need extra cash

Did you also hold onto your surrey with the fringe on top? 😁
