Thoughts on this honeycomb 2639

Hi all!
I’ve been offered this honeycomb 2639 locally. Being a fan of this reference, I’m highly tempted!
The case has been polished but still looking acceptable IMO. The dial is no-lume and looked nice to me despite the very scratched crystal making some details harder to check.
Is there any red flag I’m missing? Any doubts it might be a redial?
It’s a 13.5M 2639-13. Correct narrow feet omega crown

If all correct, the seller is asking 700€ for it, does it seem fair?
Thanks! 😀

It looks correct to me. I don’t know if the price is right, maybe someone else can answer that

Some of the minute markers are missing or damaged. Overall looks like a nice example though. I personally wouldnt pay that price, only since I own other waffle examples though

You showed 8 pictures of the watch, one of the inside case back, but no picture of the movement! That might be because the seller didn’t upload one. We might be better able to advise you if we can see a picture of the movement. 700€ sounds high for a watch that you are asked to take a chance on, without all you need to make a wise decision.

Maybe we can come to a consensus amongst those who see your post as to whether the 700€ is in the realm of reason for this Omega. I have to convert to $ Canadian, and I wouldn’t buy it at $1,100. + in my currency. That would be $792.00 US. ANYONE?

Thanks for your assessment!
It’s indeed hard to figure value on such pieces! Perfect gilt 2639 go for more than twice that while more regular patinated ones go for 400€…Somehow, I figured a honeycomb dial in good (not perfect) condition would indeed be worth the asked 700€ but it seems like it isn’t (although I’m not sur if it means it definitely isn’t worth it or it « just » might not be due to the lack of infos…)
Nevertheless, thanks for the opinions 😀

And my initial post’s purpose was first to know if this watch/dial was legit and THEN if it was worth the asked price 😀

I am concerned about the logo, the "E" looks tilted and I just have this feeling..
If it were my money I would value it as a beautiful wearer and not as a collectible.
Any doubts it might be a redial?
Nitpicking on the logo and minute marks, probably, but I have doubts.

700 Euro's? Who knows anything these days! I think it is gorgeous with a brown tweed jacket or a cream colored cardigan, match the strap with your shoes. Most admirers won't have a loupe with them.

Printing such tiny letters on a textured finish such as this dial has, can understandably result in perhaps less than perfect lettering. If the OP is buying this for his own pleasure, and is not proposing to try to flip it for a profit, it might be a decent buy at that price. The movement looks good, but if the maintenance history is unknown, there will be an added cost for a service. (I am a “bottom feeder”, and I prefer to pay less for what I buy.) This watch appears to me to be a “jumbo”, or about 38 mm diameter. If it is, I quite like these larger watches.

I believe that the ref 2639 is 36mm. Still a nice size.

😀 I’d like to buy it for myself but the general feeling of making a nice deal (or at least not get ripped off) is quite important too!
About the size, I wasn’t able to measure it but Ii had a 2640 with me and this one did seem a little bigger for some reason…Did they make a jumbo 2639? Or was the 2640 smaller than the 2639?
Thanks for the help 😀

I'd buy it at this price, but then I'm not a purist but am sucker for these dials.
Always a risk on function but a clean looking movement, 36mm case and that dial!
Over this side €700 = about £580, a buy all day.
If you don't go for it you could always slide it this way.😀

Had it in hand again today! It is really good looking!
And this time I went with my timegrapher…And things are not that easy!
With a little tweaking, I managed to have it within 10s/d but the amplitude is low, about 160 :/
That’s a bummer, I guess it would need a service! 🙁

Did you get the watch after all? Very nice looking one IMO. Also, after a quick search, the lift angle of that 266 caliber is 49. Your timegrapher should be set to 52 and and that alone can cause a small misinterpretation of the amplitude. The movement looks good but if service history is unknown a service is always highly recommended

1963 seamaster 30 crosshairs today. Paired with a whiskey old fashioned. Deano would be proud.

Not yet, still thinking about it… I had set the lift angle to 49, unfortunately!
It is a nice watch though!
