My question comes from a watch I've found outside of the forum. It's a 166.024 that I've found local to me. The things that concern come from comparing it to other watches I've seen here. The first concern is that it seems that the T SWISS MADE T is much more visible on this watch than any other that I've found. The second concern is that there aren't pin holes in the 12 and 6 o'clock lumes. The third concern is the color and print of the Seamaster 300 and the 6 and 9 non the dial. They are gold and seem like they are embossed and not reflective print like others I've seen. I've also tried to compare the inside of the caseback to others but there seem to be quite a few variations so I'm unsure about that as well.

The watch dates to 1966 and from the Seamaster 300 guide it appears that the bezel insert is the correct variation for the year but I'm not sure.

The main attraction is the fact that it's here and the price is right. I appreciate any advice the experts here can offer

I am far from an expert, but the bezel looks a lot newer than the dial and hands. Do you have movement pics?

I'm also noticing a differonce on the back of the lugs where I've added a circle. The first picture is the watch I'm looking at and the second is a random photo I found. I also forgot to mention that the crystal has the Omega logo if that helps.

The insert does not look consistent in terms of age with the rest of the watch. I would agree with the above post that the watch is a fake/franken.

It’s not really a Franken. That implies a mix of genuine parts. The movement will be the only genuine item here. The rest is fake.

Edit:
It’s also a modern fake, that someone has artificially aged in order to give them a better chance of tricking a buyer.

I’m glad I satisfied my itch to own one of these 15 years ago — the fakes were a lot easier to detect then with even a cursory look.
