Hey!
What would be your opinion on this Ed White offered locally? I might be able to go see it to take better pics if it seems worth it!
Thanks!

Looks nice. What are your thoughts on it?

it looks good to me, with the lume almost « too good » compared to most Ed’s so I’m wondering…😁

asked price is 11k€

As far as the dial and lume it does look really nice and understand the “too good to be true”. But on ones like this I usually also ask, if they redid the dial why wouldn’t they do that minute hand at the same time.
I’d go look at it in person.

Because the hands are exposed to the elements from 2 sides. Dial just one side. So, aging is different.

Right. 👍 I wasn’t clear I guess. If someone was going to relume a dial they would most likely have relumed the hands as well is what I was trying to say. They should look different, it’s when they all look perfect and matching is when I get suspicious.

What is going on here?

I would need better pics of that dial to be confident. There might be scratches or stains hiding in that darkness.

Other than that I looks like a bargain.

caseback is well worn, must've gotten a lot of love... yet the case isn't so beat. ?

Relumed, case has been reporfiled badly, non original hands have age, subdial hands seem newer and have been badly fitted, case back has seen a few polishes, pushers have seen work possibly non original stems are too clean, might be made up from parts.. buy it for £7.5k if you really want it, more on ebay like this.

Wow! That bad? Interesting how opinions differ on this one! Is it possible all those bad feelings come from the pictures and I have a good surprise with it in hand? 😀

That's why it's better to make yourself your own opinion 🙄

Someone polished the crap out of the case-back, probably because of tool marks. But that wouldn't stop me from buying it at the right price.

At $12,500 it is not crazy. Its not cheap, and some would prefer to spend more to get better.

The question the OP should ask is, if I only want to spend $12,5000, is there a better one out there?

This has issues, but it also has a lot going for it that many do not.

The joy of buying vintage is finding that attraction that sits at the fulcrum of price and attraction

Well, I already have an Ed white I like quite much despite its flaws, I’m just keeping an eye opened for a potential better version to upgrade 😁
Here is mine :

Actually, now that I see those pictures again, I think I like mine better anyway! 😁

Anyway, if it’s relumed or recut, it’s a hard pass for me 😀

From the looks of it I wouldn't think you would be trading up in this case.

Well, if the lume is not original and the case reworked, it indeed clearly isn’t worth it!

can we be a 100% sure the lume and case are an issue from the pics?
