Hello friends here. I'm looking for my first Rolex and an 1016 is on my wish list. I did some research online and would like to seek for your opinion on this piece. Thank you very much.

Dial: Mark 1 dial. Looks good to me and seller claims to be in perfect condition. Hands are long and thus not service ones.
Case: this one I need opinion from you because I cannot tell if it has been heaviliy polished before.
Bracelet and Endlinks: Looks period correct to me.
Movement: should expect a movement with hacking feature.

The watch is listed on both ebay and c24.

I will ask the seller for pictures of the serial number, case back, mid case and the movement.

Thank you.

It looks like an honest example to me. The lugs don’t look completely even but only one of them appears a bit thin. The bezel doesn’t look too soft.

I wonder how it is that there is so much pitting on the case back?

doesn’t really look like pittig me, more like nicks. Perhaps there is pitting because a caseback sticker was left on there. But with Rolex, always check for pitting in inside the caseback, in the back seal under the gasket and between the lugs. If there is pitting you will find it there!

Another one surfaced, a mark 4 dial version. The case serial number is 4086xxx, which matches the range of a mark 4 dial. Any comments on this one? Especially the case condition? Thank you.

the lug-holes looks like a crater 😉

But both are IMO not bad and with"overall matching patina and condition" (José)
