Thoughts on a Reverso?

I have the option to buy this reverso from the 40s for $8700. Any thoughts on that? I think it is a bit higher than I’d like but the dial is so gorgeous.

If you love the dial and the size, I say go for it.

For a long time, I had a modern Reverso on my ultimate buy list. However, I have learned that I don't like smaller watches, so I'll never have one.

Just be aware that the original Reverso case designs left something to be desired in terms of function, the cases weren't as well designed as the current ones made after about 1992. What does the reverse side show? Engraved, plain? This is the type of watch you have to handle to make sure it is a solid piece.

It's plain

This example concerns me because it looks too clean. It all seems right, but could it be too good to be true? Was the case heavily, albeit expertly, polished?

I think the seller needs to show the inside of the watch and movement. The devil is in the details and there is just not enough of them here.

This is the listing. I agree it is super clean. I think has been polished but there is no movement shot.

C24 shows it as being 'reserved' with a price of $11,500. It's been polished well, but some of the details in the ribs and grooves have been rounded off and lost. Without a movement pic it's hard to tell about this piece, but the price is getting pretty pricey, imo.

I’ve got it at 8700. I just want to make sure I’m not making a mistake with something that’s too clean.

That dial is ridiculously clean for its age… But the case looks polished, and the lugs a bit thin.

A bit pricey imho, but those aren’t common…
