As an experiment last year, I wore my 1967 Hamilton Ventura Electric (most enthusiasts know what the Ventura looks like) to a party which included one or two watch collectors. These Venturas are a hard watch to not notice. Nobody noticed it! It has been that way for the 40 + years I've been collecting. But when I exhibit 80 pocket watches (mostly railroad grade) at a gathering of model train enthusiasts, they get noticed. Two in particular. Otherwise, the watch I choose to wear is for my pleasure only.

Mad Dog: "Did you notice my Moonwatch?"

Hooters employee: "No."

Mad Dog: "I will pay you to notice and to pretend to dig my Moonwatch."

Hooters employee: "OK."

Does your SO know that you are spending a lot of time in Hooters? This may not look good!

If I hadn't of already sold it to my best friend, my old Air King. People always commented on it, and most were shocked to learn it was a Rolex.

They just liked the simple and clean lines.

I stopped caring many moons ago, but I do stress over which watch will make me happiest in which occasion.

One of my sister's friends wears an Air King for his one and only watch and after seeing it in the flesh, the 36mm case and understated design really keeps it classy.

I do get compliments for my patinaed Constellation from @blubarb on an occasional basis...

Forcing work colleagues to notice [and hear about] my Moonwatch at Hooters...

Work colleagues: "Hey, Mad Dog...when are you going to finish talking about your Moonwatch?"

Mad Dog: "I'll be finished talking about my Moonwatch in approximately one hour and fifteen minutes."

Work colleagues: 馃檨 馃檨 馃檨

You, MD, are single handedly increasing the value of that Moonwatch one pic at a time. 馃槈馃憤馃憤

Easy: I wear this one when my buddy here will lend it...which isn't often. And before you ask - no, the crown doesn't get lent at all. It's from the Harry Winston Burger King collection.

LOL

I actually had a few drinks with Flavor Flav a few years back. I was at a hockey show in Vegas and he was there partying. Interesting hour of my life really . . .

I think it's fair to say a lot of people don't go for the food.
To be honest...Scout's Honor...[I'm an Eagle Scout w/ Silver Palm], I go for the food...specifically the breaded wings...all drums, mild [or medium] heat with celery and blue cheese on the side. I'm also a big fan of 7-Eleven "heat lamp" wings...which imho are fantabulous...but not quite as fantabulous as Hooters wings. 馃憤

MD, I totally believe you. Honestly, their food isn't that bad at all, and I certainly haven't been back in long time. But I think we're the exact opposite. I prefer all flats, no drums, mild, with ranch. We can split a plate of 20 the next time you venture down to Atlanta!

No joke, I used to work with a guy who swore it was a good lunch place. Wasn't the type of dude to go for the.... decor or whatever you call it

I always smugly thought of the watches as a personal delight. Non-watch people just aren't caring.

The only watch about which I have received a compliment from non-watch people is this shameless hussy re-dial Omega Seamaster with 520 movement.

Also, they have some pretty good salads! I've cut back quite a bit on the wing consumption [I used to order 50 breaded wings...but have throttled back to ordering 10 or 20 now]. I'll give a shout if I'm on a long layover in ATL...the last pic I posted here with my work colleagues is the Hooters in downtown ATL.
