Yep, sorry about that. The case is from the 1960s and the dial from the 1970s.

What an amazing endeavor. This convinced me to get my first omega vintage watch. I'm gunning for an 18k yellow gold, inching more towards the 166.020.

I must confess that my main concern relates to whether I will be able to resist the temptation to pull the trigger too fast. Of course the matter of getting a good piece with a fair price is top of mind as well.

Anyhow, just wanted to shout a thankyou to PlainVanilla and hopefully avail myself of some of his wisdom.

There are many like it, but this one is mine. I know this because it has my grandfather's name engraved on the back and ive had it since 1995 and he got it in 1971.

Thank you for writing such a knowledgeable and comprehensive article which collectors will use as a reference point. The style and build quality of these watches is stunning. Truly inspirational.

Again, thank you for the article. I've got a treasured LL6609-1 Tiffany

Classic dress watch in my opinion.

Hi this is so helpful thank you!

I have just purchased an 18k dm dv. But reading this now a bit concerned about the ref number.

From the above it reads as though 18k Swiss am dv should be 166.020 and only the English ones are 165.020.

So not sure what to make of this one I have bought?

Can any one advise? Thanks!

I should add it does appear to be similar to an example in the thread above although - the Seamaster seahorse does not feature the Omega symbol beneath but waterproof.

No, the “165” means without a date, which matches with your watch. It is a Swiss cased version, not UK.

While we are on this subject, here’s my new acquisition, sourced through the Recommended Vintage Omega thread on this forum:

Yes, a Ref. KL 6292 VB Kleerback.

Very happy with this watch,

Hello everyone! I recently stumbled upon this site and this fantastic thread. I believe I have another De Ville variant that I haven’t seen posted here yet. Unfortunately, I don’t have the model or movement details at the moment, but it looks similar to the Ref. KL 6292 VB Kleerback shared by @gatorcpa above. There are some subtle differences on the dial, such as the non-rounded numerals, the “T SWISS MADE T” marking, and, of course, the non-Kleerback. I intend to get it opened up and possibly have it refinished soon, but in the meantime, I’d appreciate any information you can share on this variant.

I apologise in advance for the unflattering images.

That's a beautiful watch with a classical look. I have always liked Seamaster De Ville and De Ville watches and cannot understand why they are not more appreciated.

Hello!! I recently inherited this watch. It was my grandfathers and he wore it every day, so it has been well loved and not the greatest of condition. It is very sentimental to me though and I would love to know more about it. I plan to take it and have it cleaned up and serviced soon, but am too anxious to wait for it to be opened. From this thread, I believe it has to be from the year 1964 (correct me if I am mistaken). I do know the band is not original.

Hello! It's a ref. 165.020 from between 1964 and 1967.

You should get it serviced by a good independent watchmaker, and you would be surprised how it will look with a new crystal.
