When you look at the cast of endorsements and investors for both Holmes and Fried, it’s not surprising we are where we are politically. Seems neither side of the isle are immune from the classic grifter selling their snake oil with promises of health, wealth and prosperity.
The Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme is another great example… if someone offers you “guaranteed” 15% returns… run for the hills. And yet hundreds of so called smart people fell for it.

Yea, but Bernie also served as the Nasdaq Chairman and was elected a Chair position over the regulation of securities industry. Little better cover there.

Anthony used the bad person turned good emotional element and truly was a marketing genius. Just couldn't get out of his own way with addiction.

Not making excuses for either of them, just saying regular people can easily be baited by different ways.

He'll be out and roaming the streets in less than 3 years. And he won't be in a high security prison, more like a medium or low security, a Camp Cupcake maybe.
Lots of criminals who assaulted Law Enforcement Officers protecting the Capitol are out and roaming the streets.

Let's not make this watch story political.

That's where Martha Stewart did her time, Alderson Federal Prison, aka Camp Cupcake. The locals refer to the facility as 'The College Campus'. Inmates are encouraged to bring their tennis rackets, plenty of volleyball and swimming, too.

Seems like Martha Stewart used her time to increase her popularity, I look forward to seeing what the Timepiece Gentleman's new character arc becomes

Around here the Federal pen is known as the Sheridan Country Club. Grew up with a guy that spent some there.

I hadn't heard of this somehow. Anywhere money is to be made someone will be working to take advantage.

Our legal system can be very frustrating. I attended a sentencing hearing last week for a man who has 10 felony convictions over the past 10 years. He was recently offered a plea to complete a rehab program, and have 15yrs probation, or 15yrs DOC if the program wasn't completed.

He was kicked out of the program before orientation was completed. Then he signed up for a different program closer to home with different rules, not approved by the DA. Rather than sentencing him to what he agreed to in his plea, the judge is going to see if he completes the new program that he chose himself.

This man has crippled local farms and familirs stealing equipment, been involved in drugs, stealing copper from oil sites, possession of firearms and more. Has received deferred and suspended sentences, drug court that wasn't completed, probation that he doesn't check in with, restitution he hasn't paid, and he commits felony after felony. I don't believe he fears the legal system.

The benefit of his crimes outweighs the punishment he's received for the crimes he's been caught for.

There always seem to be a few who find a ways to scheme their way through the seams and cracks in the system. They are schemers. Often require a little push here and there either through incompetence or indifference.

Very well put, I've tried to push with this one since my case with him several years back. But I'm beginning to weary of how the system prioritizes what may be best for him and seemingly ignores the impact of his actions on others.

There is a generator a 1 ton truck, and a tractor he admits to stealing, but will not give any information about what he did with them. He's stolen a convex trailer from a church, 2 travel trailers, 30,000 of copper, along with the other charges. It's just deflating.

That’s Federal Kids the guy was found guilty in a state court. No camp cupcake.

He’s going into Gen pop at a low security. So he’s in with Rapists and non murderers.

If nothing else, he'll know how to properly fold fitted sheets when he is released...

I share your concerns, though frankly, individual instances such as those pale in comparison to what corporations are able to achieve, thanks to the essentially corrupt legal system. TBTF banks pay "cost of doing business" fines for committing crimes for which individuals would be put away for life. Etc.

It's disgusting.

And it's so pervasive that most of us are apathetic. A sad reality for sure.
