You wear a beater around the apartment? What sort of mishaps happens to you there that makes you save the good stuff? 😜
In related news, I cleaned the windows on the outside of our rowing club yesterday only to discover after a few hours that I had been wearing my newest Constellation whilst getting absolutely drenched 🤦🤦
Few years ago I spent a Saturday at our sailing club painting lockers and forgot I had my new GMT Master 2 on. Spent the evening carefully removing copious amounts of dried blue paint. Then there was the clothes washing incident with my 2998-6....one needs a good beater.

Well, honestly it'd be pretty hard to dislike given its specs: 38mm, manual wind, no date....

The brushed case finish feels cheap, but ends up working really well towards the rugged/beater watch vibe. It's nice and legible, and the case is pretty slim so it lends itself really nicely to being tossed on a NATO and going anywhere / doing anything. Crown is nice and large so very easy to wind, even if wearing gloves or your fingers are frozen. Keeps really good time at its price range. And of course it's manual wind which I really love - all in all for $500.

Oh - and when it does need adjusting (so far, I think maybe twice in the month or so I've had it) it's super easy to do because the seconds hand hacks!

What could they have done better? If the watch had the vintage Hamilton logo, and the 13-24 track was in red, it'd just be an absolute banger. As is, I still think it's one of the best watches of the year.

edit: photo of thickness (strap is a BluShark NATO)

Nice write up. I've got one of the older 38mm autos. Fantastic beater.

I’d say buy it if you like it but... don’t buy it because it’s a Zodiac. Because it’s not.

Why because it has a ETA movement? It’s a bit silly really ... folks are paying insane money for UG Compax etc with Valjoux movements ... yet this is not a Zodiac anymore because it has an outsourced movement? It’s an inexpensive watch. Don’t mean to be crass.

It hasFossils copy of an ETA. The STP 1-11. So it is all Fossil, good or bad.
I'm kind of happy Fossil has resurected Zodiac as their top rung brand. Pricing it the same as a Certina diver probably won't worrk.

It’s a fossil watch branded as Zodiac. I’m not saying that’s not a worthy watch if you like it. But if you’re aiming to own a zodiac watch...

This is a thread about the new Fossil Zodiac watches, yet somebody STILL found a way to mention a gawdammed Speedmaster. 👎 That's just about enough for this squirrel. 😵‍💫

I've killed two birds with one stone, when I purchased this Zodiac. Good beater plus PVD coated watch. Ended up paying some ridiculously cheap money for it...
