Omega Switzerland (Bienne) are often maligned on this forum but occasionally they pull the rabbit out of the hat....................

Killer mesh. I may have to swap out my 1159

What did you do with the old dial?

A few years back I had a thing about Flightmasters and ended up with two - the other was the yellow hand version - pic below.

As much as I loved the watches the Flightmasters they never really sat right on my small wrist. I passed the old dial and all replaced parts onto the new owner when sold.

Wow! I'm surprised you found my pictures from way way back. Yes, that one had a relatively early serial

    Hi there,

Scoop: There will probably be a Flightmaster Only book (of course smaller than MWO)

My 145.036 yesterday.............I bought it some time back and had not really used it as the main spring was slipping after only about 15 winds. So finally picked up the courage to investigate.

The offending main spring - first time I've seen a spring break like that, not sure if its common or not.

    New spring installed...

And movement back together after a slight clean and oiled all the jewels

Today will be refitting the dial and hands and hopefully back into the case :)

"Slight clean"? Anyway, yes the break in the mainspring there is common. It's usually at either end, so there at the barrel arbor or out at the tang end.

I've only seen breaks at the other end so wasnt sure if its normal to break at the arbor end.
I dont have a cleaning machine so I'm a bit limited to what cleaning I can do unfortunately, its on my list of things to buy but I'm quite far outside my comfort zone with a movement like this :D

    Anyway its back together ........

If watches are a hobby - a investment purchase without liking it is not something I would do. If liking it investment potential is of low importance.
If watches are your work - potential or believed potential is everything.
