P pongsterThe markings on the caseback have no meaning? Just random numbers to make it appear military issued? Same numbers for all?
Pics&videos... you always have to experience the watch yourself to know if it is for you. Many of these hype-watch... it’s crazy: people are forced to buy watches without seeing them.. for example the Daytona: stunning watch (pics&videos), great history, cult followers—but when I personallly experienced the watch: too tiny for me. To use the complication: to open the screws was irritating. Very hard to read... conclusion: not for me. You gotta see the watch before buying.
For me, it is not only the best Bond Watch but also the first Diver 300M that I really like. The normal ones are to shiny for me and the bracelet was not my thing.
I‘m happy with my yesterday bought watch 😎
I normally don’t like the patina look.. but it’s starting to grow on me after seeing more and more wrist shots.
That's a good point, and I agree! I still don't think it should be used on a watch that isn't military issue, though.
Indeed, in the first movies, James Bond was wearing a Rolex wristwatch, just a writer Ian Fleming (1908-1964) intended as he wore a Rolex himself.
There was no fuzz about it, the action hero just wore a decent toolwatch ( Rolex Submariner diving watch) suitable for his job as a spy...
Fast forward to the year 1995 when the Aston Martin was replaced by a BMX and Omega bought its way in... product placement bull shit.
The initial entry of Omega into the Bond movies was not really a product placement, it was the costumes designer Lindy Hemming who said, “I was convinced that Commander Bond, a naval man, a diver and a discreet gentleman of the world would wear the Seamaster with the blue dial.” She said that because her father had friends who were ex-Navy and wore MoD issued Omega watches. Then the rest is history and I think it’s fun.
Now, the world is changing and most things are being commoditised including garnements, watches, cars, etc… worn and visible in movies. Even watches are being commoditised as some people are investing in watches which I find rather odd as it’s not my way with watches which I see as luxury or not, consumable items which may become collectible after a considerable amount of time has passed…
Why would it be bullshit ?!

Correct. The switch from Rolex to Omega in Goldeneye was not product placement, but the decision of the costume designer. There is certainly a product placement arrangement now, but that was not the case at the time that the change was made.
Although it's being told that the choice of the model by the designer was indeed the Seamaster Professional 300M, it was Omega who wanted to be in the movie and reached out to the movie studio. It was one of the first product placement campaigns in a movie as we know it today. With the product getting a prominent place in the storyline, extra scenes being shot for marketing purposes,...
Mr Biver who was CEO at the time explained this in an interview once.
Better judge yourself, my amazing AD called today...
I am impressed:
So light&easy to wear, true Bond-watch without yelling it. Technical qualities of the 8806 are stunning, dial is soooo stylish—you have to see this piece yourself! Photos&videos don’t do any justice. Even though I am a huge Rolex fan, this Seamaster beats the Rolex Sub in every way. Yeah, sub was the original Bond watch, but Seamaster is the Modern era Bond watch. IMO: Best Bond Watch Ever.
I think this is one of the first Bond Seamasters in Europe!
