Yea he is definitely up there in the Bond ranking. I recall reading an article where he actually bought a beat up second hand "Bond" seamaster prior to his being cast for the role. Maybe someone else here has the link to that interview/article?

I preferred Pierce Brosnan. He took Connery to the next level. Craig has been good...but he always looks like he bit into a lemon. No polish or finish.

The first Bourne movie is great. The rest, entirely forgettable, but I will concede that all of the Bourne films thankfully lack the campiness and silly humor that some of the earlier Bond films included, especially those from the Roger Moore era. The problem with the later Bourne movies is that there is too much action and graphic violence which, in my opinion, perhaps makes them more believable but less fun to watch.

I never could warm to Roger Moore as Bond. I enjoyed all four of the Bourne films (not counting the Bourne Legacy). But, as with Bond, the action sequences seemed to get out of control and more like fantasy. My favorite spy film is the quietest and most psychologically complex... John le Carre's "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy." Followed by "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold." No commercial ties, no car crashes, no pyrotechnics...just clever story telling. And closer to the truth.

Have seen all three. Fun in a video game sort of way. I prefer "Eastern Promises" for dramatic tension.

Connery will always be my favorite Bond. I enjoy Brosnon and Dalton quite a bit as well. Craig isn't bad, and Casino Royale ranks up there among my favorite Bond films. I feel like with the nearest iteration of Bond they decided to forego the campy silliness for hyper action silliness, which to my mind is just as unbelievable.

Eastern Promises is an excellent flick.

when you say first Bourne - you mean Richard Chamberlain, correct? 😁 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bourne_Identity_(1988_film) That was the first Bourne movie and it was super awesome!

Doug Liman’s Bourne Identity was definitely the best of the bunch, by a mile. For me, far from being less graphic, part of its brilliance was its fight scenes shot with wide-angle, long holding, steady-shots and incredible choreography. The later, Greengrass, movies transitioned instead to fight scenes with jerky camera, frantic pace jump-cuts, and close-ups.

In all, the first movie had a refreshing realism (e.g., hurriedly memorize the city street map just before instigating a car chase) and anti-hero application to the spy film that of course then spawned the Daniel Craig era of Bond film.

Unbelievably, Liman’s movie came out 20 years ago. Me and Matt Damon were both babies back then.

The Bourne movies are excellent, but Craig's first, Casino Royale, is easily my fav Bond film with any actor. In fact, I prefer it to any Bourne movie, as well. Wick? Canoe Reeves? He was good in one movie, playing himself, in Bill and Ted.

As for the Omega posted here, I think Craig is the best Bond EVEN IF he wears that watch. That watch would be more fitting for Roger "I think I broke a nail" Moore. Connery will always be the coolest, though.

I guess it depends on your age. I grew up watching Roger Moore's 007, and Moore is my favorite Bond.

Seems that Richard Chamberlain as Jason Bourne is not creating strong vibes around here. I suppose that also not so many fans of George Lazenby as James Bond?
