Glad to see the truth is out on this one. Shame to see a solid, simple vintage aircraft lost for 'clicks'

YouTuber Trevor Jacob jailed after crashing plane for views - BBC News

Agreed. Amazing level of stupidity.

It should be noted that just crashing a plane on purpose, without intent to cause harm to people or property, is not likely a criminal act...it just violates a long list of FAA regulations. The most that the FAA could do is revoke Jacob's license, potentially permanently. It was the deliberate obstruction of the ensuing investigation that landed him in jail.

While doing maneuvers in the traffic pattern yesterday above the Burbank airport, I heard an aircraft identified as "heavy" getting clearance to land. It was one of these. (the video is illustrative, not one of the aircraft I saw)

As @Mad Dog can attest, KBUR has notoriously short runways. But not a problem for the C-17, which specializes in landing heavy loads on short runways. By the end of my flight, there were two of these parked on the ramp. This usually portends a visit by POTUS in the near future, as these aircraft deliver a lot of cars and stuff needed for a presidential visit.

I seem to recall that when "Top Gun" was first released in 1987, the recruiting slogan was "Not just a job, it's an adventure".

BREMONT watches... ejection seat tested ?
😲

That's an interesting marketing idea. However, I'm fairly sure most modern wrist watches would be able to handle that kind of acceleration. Of more relevance would be "shock resistance" and the sort of tests that NASA subjected the Speedmaster to? "Shock – Six shocks of 40g each, in six different directions, with each shock lasting 11 milliseconds."

MB1's don't often come up for sale. When they do the price is Rolex grey market pricing.

I get Bremont are a gimmicky brand in a lot of peoples eyes and paying what I did for the wright flyer was madness especially as I don't wear it. I justify it by telling myself I own a tiny certified piece of the first powered aircraft in the world and as an aerosexual it was worth it. My son wants to be a commercial pilot and if he ever makes it I will gift him the watch for his efforts.

@Dash:

french DASH 8-400? protection civile

It's a Q400 for sure. It looks like a water bomber or there is something funky going on beneath that large belly aerodynamic fairing.
