Yesterday’s yuppies are today’s geezers.

After all, someone who was 30 in 1984 is now 70.

Father Time is undefeated.

This has been very sobering. I guess it’s akin those of us that wore Dr. Martens boots unironically.

These are the next hot thing- I can feel it!

Already started hoarding them with my Beanie Baby collection.
Heck I think I’ve seen these pop up pretty frequently as of late!

I looked at one of the links in this thread and thought some of the geezers would be perfect for my wife or daughter.

Geezer is a state of mind, as this thread illustrates well...

This is pretty funny. My son (who's almost 10) has an interest in watches. He saves up for the purchases with his own money. He has a couple of G-shocks, but most recently became interested that same A168 (square + gold geezer Casio). 😄

He's wearing it to school today and super excited.

I've been showing him pics of mechanical Seikos for next time.

The kid is clearly tapped in to the hip far more than his dad.

Those last two posts may as well been in Swahili for all I understood them!
Indeed in which case, at least those that speak Swahili would actually understand them, as they are I'm not sure anyone would, could or should!

I have to admit, Aaron’s one man-show of Gen-Alpha spoken word was difficult to decipher (and broke my brain a little). At least us Gen- X’r’s still used real words.

Being a Gen Z’r, I still have no idea what I said above. I just know the gen alpha slang has gone somewhat viral as of late, and I spent way too much time googling how to use it in a sentence… if you can call that a sentence. My slang is pretty simple, mostly revolving around sweet, cool, and hella.

Elsewhere on the forum we have a new member who is Italian and it would seem only speaks Italian, he uses Google translate to understand us and for us to understand him.........So for shits and giggles I fed Scarecrow Boat's post into google translate......it did manage to detect that it was in English (more than I could achieve) but it could shed no further light onto what was actually said.
Perhaps Google translate needs some inter-generational slang translating abilities. To most of us it would be a far more useful feature that some of the more obscure languages that we are likely to rarely encounter.
That is not to say that these languages are not valid or worthwhile offering, no quite to the contrary, all the more reason to include them, as you quite literally never know when they might come in handy. But an inter-generational slang translator feature would probably be more useful to most.
Certainly our new Italian friend might then, better understand that post, as it is, he would've like me, confirmed that is was English but would still be none the wiser as to it's meaning.
Of course it would be a huge and difficult undertaking, not just to do but also maintain, with slang by it's very nature being very regional and constantly evolving.......certainly a better use of Google's copious amounts of money, time and AI than some of the shit they do.

So dude is no longer part of the Cali-vernacular? Glad to see Hella is still hanging on- I think it’s only a California thing. For those outside of the left coast- Hella is a contraction of Hell-of-a, as in “we had a hella good time”, but the meaning broadened over time.
When I moved to the east coast for college people had never heard it before.

It seems Google translate and I are finally in agreement.

I also am enjoying a thread about “Geezer watches” becoming a thread about Geezers.

I find it interesting that those have been “rebranded” as “geezer” considering they evoke the early 80’s power suit, Gucci loafer Wall Street/ Capitol Hill vibe to me. Pretentious, smug, arrogant and excessive in every way- very far from Geezer.
I guess Cokehead Watches lacked that certain jeune se qua!
