oh boy look at that blue deville!
If only it didn't have a bit of peeling by the AML...still have my eyes set on a flawless one but they don't come up too often.

I think the dials on these hold up really well over time and the ones I see are almost always in great shape, but the blue dials.. whatever they do to make that color, not as durable it seems. You're lucky to get an example in great shape.

Those are my style of watch, too. They are very similar, you should be able to narrow it down even further馃榾.
What are the centre & far right watches?

Similar reason to why I let go for my Snowflake 7411/0

It was the envy / endgame for most, the blue dial being really sought after. But I tried it on twice and worn it for like a week or so and I know I would never wear it again. I wore my 165.024 even more. Not sure why. The snowflake color didn't sit well with me, though it looks so good on Instagram.

It's funny that you bring it up, some friends told me that the pieces I have/had (165.024, snowflake, 16700, 14060 with really nice patina etc) were end game pieces for many. It's true. But I wasn't sated in that sense. I find more "fun" and enjoyment in wearing watches that are more "value" for money?

My quest to find a Tricompax/compax at the moment is to fulfil my own trilogy, A dive + dress + chrono. The polerouter sub fulfils the first role, a nice polerouter to fill the second and a compur/compax/tricompax to finish it off.

To this

I think personally, a 5513/Snowflake being in at least 8-9k USD, the money has gotten me a polerouter sub, a seiko champion, an angelus 215 and probably a polerouter in the near future.... that to me, is alot of money for 4-5 watches instead of one watch.

It's definitely personal, but I've think I've gone around that loop with Vintage Rolex/Tudor and while it's eye catching and has alot of WOW factor.... its more fun in hunting more "value for money" watches per se.

Great stories! Don't you think this is the way a collection is supposed to be? Evolving with your tastes, your wishes and your mood at a certain moment in your life... To me, one of the most beautiful thing in collecting is probably the hunt... but once on your wrist the alchemy is going away a little bit even if you love the watch... on the other hand rarely this alchemy never goes away and you know you are ready for some looooong time with this watch 馃榿 for me that's what's happening with Speedmasters 馃槣 even if I loved wearing this beauty for many years
