I agree Djoko would have lost to Musetti too, but .. last man standing, right? I don't know all the details of Musetti's injury but it could be claimed his body wasn't in the shape it needs to be to win a GS. Which is of course part a big of the equation.

Musetti is such an athletic and clever shot maker. Reminds me of Federer in that way.

Interestingly, a person close to Musetti said "The injury may be related to the fact that Musetti builds the point and rarely finds the winner after 1-2 shots. His game needs time and space, which is why it involves a considerable expenditure from a physical point of view.".

Awesome! Looking forward to watching this match in full. Super happy with the outcome!

Djokovic likely would have lost in the quarterfinals to Musetti if not for Musetti’s injury. Musetti’s game, in my view, matched up best against Djokovic’s: far more variety, rather than monotonous baseline rallies only occasionally broken up by a drop shot or a volley.
Djokovic was about as rested as he could be - start of the season, one walkover, one partial match with a retirement, and yet he still looked completely gassed. Time waits for no one. It's hard to see that short of both Sinner and Alacraz being out from injury or something, that he can win another slam. This was his best chance, and I think he knew it...

Of course you can't count him out completely, but it's looks less likely every time.

His next best chance would be Wimbledon. Don't think he has high hopes for US Open.

Not sure I'd agree. Musetti didn't look tired at all and any player could get injured. All top players had serious injuries even when they dominated.

You're right, he didn't seem tired. And I didn't mean conditioning so much as preparing his body for 2 weeks of 5-set competition.

Of course, I have no idea if Musetti's injury could have been prevented with more physio or yoga or weight training. But I do know he has had to retire twice in a Grand Slam in the last 12 months with this same injury, in addition to Barcelona and Rio.

While any player CAN get injured, Musetti keeps getting this same lower body / thigh / abductor injury. I hope he can heal and come back 100% because I've always enjoyed watching him.

On the rise. From #333 to #10 in just over a year…

If she beats Muchova in the Doha final tomorrow, she will be #9 in the world.

Nose-bleeding! Only scraped into Wimbledon last July as a lucky loser - now look! So pleased. Also, for some reason rather looking forward to her next match against Osaka...

Happy for Muchova to win the 1000 in straight sets today. Such a grinder; very mature game and was really rooting for her.

Mboko has a ton of power, can effortlessly pull the trigger on her backhand, high ceiling. I think she's right where she belongs and look forward to see her remain competitive and take that next step in the WTA.

Now watching FAA take on Bublik for a spot in the Rotterdam final against the Demon.

Later Shapo takes on Shelton for a spot in the Dallas final…

There's a lot we don't agree on in tennis but I am fully behind FAA and a fan of his game. He's one of my favorites to watch (along with Tommy Paul). I really hope one or both can make the final leap to winning a GS. If they could only share a bit between their games - I feel FAA has a high ceiling but too low a floor. With his A-game he is really really hard to beat, but his B-game, when his timing is off, becomes streaky and his returns and rally tolerance dip.

That was easy. 1 and 2 in 53 minutes. Bublik had no chance. Demon up tomorrow!

di Minaur currently winning 75% of his 2nd serve points. Which is actually higher than his 1st serve %. That's a tough place to live for FAA and what I mean about his return needing improvement. We'll see if this improves.

Felix clearly not healthy today, but good win for the Demon. 3rd time was the charm.

Sinner/Medvedev - what a match. Great to see how well both players maintained their level of play. The last 7 points of the tiebreaker were breathtaking. I thought that Sinner was going to lose the set at 0:4 in the tiebreak.

Yeah, when you can run 7 straight points against Meddy the way he was playing, that’s impressive.
