And maybe because they're elite and well paid they don't ever deserve to have privacy, can't make a mistake or afford to really be human. And whatever they say can and should be used against them in the court of public opinion. And if they do lose, we toss them away like yesterday's news. God forbid they don't have the same politics as you do, or speak their mind, or move to a state or country with better income tax laws. The list is long.

I understand Coco has impossible expectations. I think you do too. I wouldn't think of apologizing for breaking my racquet in a hallway. Not for a second. I'll think less of her if she does. Impossible, see?

You have a propensity for turning whatever I say into the most extreme hyperbole and misrepresenting it, so I don't think it's productive to engage with you any further. Cheers.

Very sad for Musetti - he was really outplaying Djokovic. I turned it off after the second set (needed at least some sleep!) and then woke up this morning to find out Musetti had to retire with injury in the 3rd. Even Djokovic admitted he was headed home...so he has had a walkover and a retirement in the last 2 rounds...

Sinner marches on - easy win over Shelton.

Pegula looks the best I've ever seen her play. Big challenges ahead, but that serve is awesome right now. Iga was outplayed...the calendar GS will have to wait until next year I guess.

After a few years of success with Erin Routliffe, Gabby Dabrowski has teamed up with Stefani again, and is in the semis. Last Canadian standing and hoping for a title.

Great performance by Pegula. Much better than her previous match with Keys.

It was completely unexpected and heartbreaking to see Musetti's getting injured. He played an amazing match - very Federeresque in its variety and shotmaking. Djokovich, as always, got extremely lucky. He didn't deserve this "win" one bit.

I've been trying find the total # of hours each of the men's semi finalists has spent on court this tournament. Novak must have the fewest with a walkover and Musetti match getting cut short. Certainly good for his body, but I think his luck will end soon. Mens top 4 seeds still in this one, I always find that interesting.

Pegula reminds me of David Ferrer in some ways, model of consistency tho doesn't have a clear weapon that can take her over that GS hump. The way Maddie Keys' forehand did for her last year. Sabalenka could win this running away, without even losing a set.

Two great mens semi finals matches. Looking forward to see Djokovic go for #25 on Sunday.

I only watched the first match up until Game 1 of the fifth set, which Alcaraz lost (the game, not the set). The third set felt like a déjà vu of the Djokovic–Musetti match. Fortunately for Alcaraz, it wasn’t injury-related. Watching players struggle with cramping or injuries is always tough, so it was good to see him fight through it.

I haven’t watched the Djokovic–Sinner match yet, but the statistics heavily favored Sinner. Djokovic’s luck, however, seems to be holding—for now.

Points won: Sinner 152, Djokovic 140.
First-serve percentage, double faults, aces, first-serve win percentage, and return points won were all better for Sinner… and yet, he still lost.

Will be an interesting final. Hopefully Carlos can get whatever issue he had sorted so we can have a good final. Looking forward to seeing him become the youngest player ever with the career grand slam.

I woke up this morning and watched the final 2 sets of Sinner vs Djokovic. Sinner certainly had his chances to break Djokovic in the 5th. Djokovic has been lucky in that he had a walkover and the Musetti asterisk, but his serving in crucial situations against Sinner today was superb.

I am now watching the repeat of the 5th set. Djokovic manages to defend the breakpoints really well. Sinner is NOT using any variety that Musetti displayed. It's all about the baseline rallies. Sinner is not using any drop shots, slices, net play. All of that worked wonders for Musetti. Sinner needs to further develop his game. Still not much of "unpredictability" that he wanted. He is not wearing out Djokovic like Musetti was able to do. He is not disrupting Djokovic's rhythm.

Knowing how this match ends, I'll just go skiing instead of watching the rest of it. Sadly I will miss both finals as they will be starting at half past midnight in my time zone.

Rybakina dug deep in the 3rd set. This will sting for Sabs, especially being up 3-0 in the final set; it's all about mental composure for her and it cracked when she needed it most today.

Completely unrelated, I saw Jennifer Capriati on an analyst panel on the tennis channel the other day. Boy, did I adore Jennifer and her game. But I can see why she isn't a commentator or analyst, very nervous and not the most well spoken of Hall of Famers. I always wish the best for her, sad how her career came to an end.

My only wish for Sabalenka is that she can smash a racquet to pieces in privacy somewhere today.

She wanted to during a string of unreturnable serves from Rybaakina, but restrained herself. Who knows, perhaps she would have won had she fully expressed her frustration then. But not post-match.

Awesome! Looking forward to watching this match in full. Super happy with the outcome!

Djokovic likely would have lost in the quarterfinals to Musetti if not for Musetti’s injury. Musetti’s game, in my view, matched up best against Djokovic’s: far more variety, rather than monotonous baseline rallies only occasionally broken up by a drop shot or a volley.

Alcaraz victory means I don’t have to sleep in the trailer this week.
