Hopefully he will not make it through the quarterfinals. I have a bit of Djokovic-fatigue.

And that neither of them left the court at any time is so impressive and shows such dedication and respect. Truly epic levels of fitness. Looking forward to seeing these two meeting in grand slam finals many times in the future.

I go every year and it is always a great time. I have to admit a slight annoyance that ticket prices have more than doubled in the last 6 or 7 years, but I guess that is the price of the sport gaining popularity. I also have been going for a day during "fan week" the week before the tournament starts for the last few years. You can see the players practice and also the qualifying tournament. It is really enjoyable and you can get right up next to the courts. Admission is free! ...but the honeyduces are still $22, haha.

I got my tickets. Sept 1 Labor Day day session. I use to go every year when it was just me and my wife but had to take a break when the kids were born. Now that they're older, I can bring them along.

Great comeback by Djokovic. Hopefully he will not make it through the quarterfinals. I have a bit of Djokovic-fatigue.

Let’s all enjoy a picture of one of the types of yoga Djokovic does. Looks like cocooned people from some sci-fi horror movie 😄😄

I do hope he doesn't do that after he's eaten or it's sure to make him puke up his donkey cheese....

Felt bad for Dimitrov yesterday. Up 2 sets on Sinner and then retiring due to injury...

Yes, that was a crying shame. But could be the luck SInner needed to get to the final?

Well, this was an absolute disgrace...59 year old billionaire gets (buys?) a "wild card" to play in 125 event.

Apparently you can now buy your way into an official ATP pro event, and have your opponents play well under their "best effort" which is clearly against ATP rules. And at the HOF open to boot.

I've never had much respect for Tomic, but I lost a ton for Jack Sock after this nonsense.

Ref. to doubles, is it really necessary for the players to touch hands after every point? Looks ridiculous.

Oh yea, lots of paddle clacking in pickleball. They got it from the tennis players. Drives me nuts.

Both Fritz and Alcaraz played really well today. High quality match.
Will watch women's final tomorrow. Świątek totally dominated Benčič in the semi-final. I wonder how Anisimova will fare against her.

Swiatek is playing great right now, and probably the most aggressive I’ve seen her play. I think she is starting to figure it out on grass, and also playing against heavier hitters. Her serve has much more on it than it used to. I’m giving her the edge with the experience she has. Her amazing stat of 6-0 in grand slam finals is on the line! Anisimova will be in her first, so nerves may play a huge part…

Having said that, the mixed doubles final was an awesome display of controlling nerves for Sem Verbeek, who has come from deep in the rankings to play with Siniakova, and hold strong throughout the match, his first GS final. So who knows…some people can pull it off so easily…

Well, Anisimova had a bad case of nerves, and Świątek was firing on all cylinders... Congrats to the winner.

The bagel factory was open for business. Bageled Bencic in the last set of the semifinal, and then two more today. Only lost 2 games out of the last 26!

It’s has only lost 1 set in all 6 major finals she has been in. Amazing…

Most of us at every level have been there. It's horrible. It's a self-fulfilling downward spiral that your conscious being sees and feels close up and can do nothing about. The (entirely justified) side-order of self-loathing doesn't exactly help. Iga is a worthy and overdue champion, but of course it's a shame it came about like that. I hope Anisimova can overcome and move on to take her well-earned place.

One of the best NYC days out imaginable and a wonderful reason to be thirsty too. Anyone tried Pimm's, the Wimbledon equivalent? In fact, the English upper-middle classes use the stuff everywhere throughout the summer practically as fuel, whether at barbecues or open-air opera. I haven't really seen it much elsewhere, but it is actually delicious! 😋

Cheers!
PS Carlos for the W tomorrow...

Hoping for the same! But in any case a Sinner win would be okay too.

Had a funny thing on Thursday night at the courts. Playing some fun doubles and someone asked about the Fritz/Alcaraz match. I said I hoped Carlos would win, and when someone asked why, I said so if Sinner lost he could beat Djokovic again. I was met with both approval and shock…

I was paired up with a new player to our club at the time, who I had no idea just happened to be Serbian…::facepalm1:: oops! We had a good laugh. He said being Serbian it’s pretty much required that they cheer for him. I mentioned that Novak could probably run for president there after he retires, and he said in all seriousness it would be an easy win for him. Maybe in lieu of GS #25? 😉
