Really pleased for Krejcikova, although I was really rooting for Paolini, I love her spunk to use an Americanism, great match, there is no way that Paolini or Krejcikova were spent, and given the opportunity, Paolini might well have come back to win had there been parity with the men's game; I would have loved to have seen match go to five sets, it felt like it was just warming up..
Its absolutely correct for there to be equality in terms of prize money etc, but there really needs to be equality in the game itself.

I would have been happy with either of the women winning the title. Given the start Krejcikova had, it likely would have been more difficult for her to lose it than it would Paolini. Paolini can at least take away the fact that she had a good comeback to win the second, and made the third competitive. If Krejcikova had lost, it would have been tough to know you dominated and then collapsed.

Men's doubles was a disappointment for our house - hoping the Aussies would win, but I loved that sweet backhand overhead that Purcell made.

Women's doubles also a disappointment - hoping Gabby and her partner (both Canadian but Erin plays for NZ) would win.

Men's final was everything I hoped it would be - a beat down by Carlos. Such a shame that a fan screamed just as Carlos was about to win, and he missed that ball wide. Novak looked like he really wanted to be somewhere else before that game started - just going through the motions.

People are no longer intimidated playing him. Same thing happened with Serena, and despite getting to several finals she just couldn't win another once people had the confidence to beat her. He might come back - if anyone can it's him - but his glory days are over I think.

Carlos sure made Djokovic look lost, which doesn't happen often. He was invincible in the final. Too quick and so many winners. Was never a fan of Djokovic antics, but appreciate how well he has kept himself in shape as he aged. But Father Time is undefeated. Not sure when Djokovic's time is up, but it will be soon (if it hasn't already happened). Amazing he has stayed at the top this long with younger players always chasing him.

Yeah great final, Alcaraz does it again!
What an incredible athlete, very much raising his game to another level for the final, serving and returning with more speed and accuracy than he's done all tournament. Djokovic tried to mix it up early on which was definitely worth trying, but he really didn't have any answers.
I'm not such a huge fan of watching doubles, women's, men's mixed or other; I sometimes watch it, but somehow it lacks the same kind of gladiatorial type one-on-one battle intensity that I love about the singles, especially five-set singles.

We live in a gated community in the mountains with 2 tennis courts. Sometimes we bring our dog in and play while she runs around and goes for steals. She has a blast.

Everyone has always been cool about it and we never have her out there during peak hours or anything like that.

I'm still pretty new to the game but I'm still not too new to think that pickle ball sucks .

I often cannot stand tennis commentators, but Nick Kyrgios is pretty good overall. While watching yesterday, this exchange happened between Nick and the other commentator...

"Nick for the young fan what is the key to hitting a tweener?"

"You have to let the ball drop. You have to let it drop. Lots of guys don’t let it drop and hit it too high, and it gets too close to the (long pause searching for words)…beef jerky."

🤣

With huuge respect where it's due to both Djoker and Alcaraz, the Men's USO quarterfinal line-up is the most interesting set of matches in ages, imo. Just can't call it! Anyone have some insight? It's going to be a good ride. 😊

I think Sinner is in for a tough match against Medvedev, and the others are also difficult to call...

I thought Kyrgios + the rather minimalist gentle BBC commentary approach for Wimbledon was a real winning combination, BBC commentary is usually quite understated and minimal, but this particular combination was some of the best commentary I can remember
