I just saw this movie, with some great acting by Christian Bale and Matt Damon. The time period was set between 1962 and 1966.

These two, portraying Ken Miles and Caroll Shelby, along with others in the film, we’re sporting some fine specimen vintage watches throughout.

I managed to capture only a few with my iPhone, as I wasn’t fully prepared for so many... might be fun to ID some specific references and see others captures.

The first few of mine show Matt Damon (Shelby) sporting what I think was a Heuer Carrera.

I believe I also saw at least a few Omegas, including a YG Constellation on the Phil Remington character, and another YG Omega on Iacocca. Christian Bale had on a black-dialed chrono that might have been an Autavia (3 subdials)..

Do chime in with your thoughts if you saw this action-packed, excellent flick!

An amazing story... 50 years ago, Belgian racing car driver Jacques "Jacky" Ickx won the Le Mans 24 hours with a Ford GT-40 ( in total Ickx won Le Mans six times ! ) and this January 1st Jacky Ickx will celebrate his 75th birthday !

Looking forward to seeing this movie, allways loved Carol Shelby, even though I’m not particularly fond of Christian Bale and his typical Hollywierd outspoken view. Great actor, just shut up and make movies you monkey. We could care less about your political opinions just because you have a platform.

I have no idea what Christian Bale's political opinions are, I am willing to bet they are different than yours, otherwise you probably wouldn't complain in such an inappropriate forum for your comments. Get over yourself. Don't like him, don't go to his movies, but spare us.

Decent movie with the typical hollywood problems associated with making a racing movie for the masses...never mind the numerous historical inaccuracies.

If you want to see an actual racing movie, watch Senna or Faster (the moto gp movie not the hollywood release of the same name).

All that aside I did notice the watches seemed period correct and I appreciated the effort.

Shelby was great and drove a bit as well but his health forced him to stop behind the wheel. a bit off-topic but if anyone is interested in REAL talented engine builders from back then read up on Smokey Yunick and Bill Jenkins. those guys wrote the book on horsepower!

I agree 100%. Both great films.

Actors are Actors. I know a few. Its what they do. Awake, asleep, onstage or offstage. Whatever the forum. Very few can differentiate between onstage and off. They have their opinions and we ours. They have their forum we have ours. Having said that...sometimes it does get old.

It is Christmas after all...Here's one from Christmas 2013. Seiko ska371 from July of that year.
have fun

Very true, but if they expect US to make them insanely wealthy you’d think they’d take that into account before alienating half of their money? Well, I guess the smart ones do. He’s still a great actor, can’t take that away.

C'mon, you know in general Hollywood leans far to the left. It is not a new thing. Same as elementary school teachers.

My wife wanted to see it and we went last week. I too was probably as interested in the cool watches as the cars and racing story. I enjoyed the film on the whole and I have always loved British sports cars. When I had my 1969 Triumph TR6, it was really just my poor mans 1963 slab side Cobra. I came home from the movie and stupidly started looking at cobra kits again.

There is a monthly gathering of Cobra kit cars a couple miles from my house. I stumbled across it a few years ago. Seeing a dozen or so of these together definitely makes one think how nice it would be to own one.

Actors are entitled to their opinion just as much as doctors, lawyers, waiters, construction workers, etc etc. It’s a job like any other, and doesn’t mean they aren’t humans allowed to have opinions. Yes, they have a forum for their opinions, and some of them use it. Sometimes in an inappropriate way. Just like you’re entitled to your opinion, but maybe not in an inappropriate way on a watch forum...

If you can’t separate the person from the job, you should avoid his movies and not give him your money. And by all means, next time you’re seeing a doctor make sure to ask about their political leanings before they work on you.

Fun fact: a yoga student of my wife's stopped attending her classes when she found out my wife did not have the same far-left beliefs. My wife did not even engage in any discussions with her. Best part is that lady is a reporter for major newspaper known for it's slant.

To each their own but I think that’s a real shame. Has no impact on your wife’s teaching abilities. Definitely that student’s loss.

Living on the edge of DC has been quite interesting the last decade or so... The first 40+ years were no issue.

Really could care less how or which way someone leans, just don’t appreciate people trying to sway anyones beliefs just because they have an open mic. That’s all, just let people decide for themselves is all.
