Thanks to @kaplan i finally found a NOS 1122 flexostrap to replace the damaged one on my old geneve 166 041, attempted to fit it last night and yep...one of the spring bars went ping! and I cannot find it anywhere...doh! So as I now need a new pair would you guys recommend original omega spring bars or are the ebay aftermarket ones fine? And could any of you with any prior experience with the above strap and case ref. let me know if I need the 1.5mm or the 1.8mm thick bars? Thanks for reading and thanks to OF for having me 😀 l8erz t8erz

The Omega OEM bars are certainly better quality than the generic ones on eBay or Amazon. If you're near an Omega Boutique, they may well give a pair at no cost. It's hard to find them from third party sellers. Otto Frei used to have them, but I just checked and apparently they are out of stock of the 18mm size.

Original omega, buy yourself a nice supply and over time replace all your old ones with them. There’s really no use using generics or old ones, one failure over a hard surface and you’re back at a watchmaker with a repair bill

Did you get one side installed? That should tell you which size is best.

Yes, but I couldn't be certain if the one that I do have left is original to the watch and as I may aswell get a fresh pair (or several for when I inevitably ping the next one across my living room🙁😵‍💫😬) I was hoping one of you guys may know the correct thickness that originaly came with the aforementioned strap/case duo😕

If you ask three more times you’ll qualify for our OF Rewards Program 😁 It’s a good question and I’m curious about the answer

Buy a pair of each. Try the 1.8mm first. Usually a older watch will have slightly worn spring bar holes that will take a 1.8mm

Similar to when people go for the cheapest tyres and brake pads/discs on their motors (usually some nasty unpronounceable eastern import junk!!) obviously THE most important components regarding safety, always makes me cringe when some of my cheapskate friends do it!
Great advice, cheers.

That's really more dependent on the particular strap/bracelet, but 1.8mm is considered standard and 1.5mm is for special cases.

FWIW, my genuine Omega 18mm spring bars are 1.8mm thick with a body length of 14.2mm, pivot length of 0.9mm, and pivot diameter of 0.8mm.

Could you elaborate on "special cases"? Always looking to learn more 😀 cheers

I've only come across one case where a smaller diameter was needed. It was a bracelet with removeable end links, and the particular way that those end links aligned was such that 1.8mm wouldn't fit.

otto frei website sells really nice Swiss springbars. i bought a pack of like 5 sets in each size to replace any that looked sketchy. they use better stainless and the cheap ones. (these are still pretty inexpensive).
I have a few sets of spare omega springbars for strap and bracelet because I trust them over all. (the strap/bracelet are different omega part #;s even if for same mm springbars). the strap springbars are hard to get in/out of bracelets even know both are 20mm, the center of the springbar is a bit shorter i think, making it east to get out.
omega spingbars are 1.8mm
i use these when not using Omega.

Brilliant info and thank you for the link, I'll have a good look later when I have more time, are they cool with international orders? (I'm in the UK)
Thanks again for taking the time 😀

Next time change your spring bars in a large ziplock bag. 😗
