Omega 21mm Lug Spring Bar: 2208 vs 2209 for Straps

I’m puzzled here: Swatch group information says an Omega lug width of 21mm, when using a strap, takes the X2208 OEM spring bar. I thought the 2208 was for a 20mm lug watch when using a strap, and a 21mm lug when using a bracelet. Wouldn’t the 2209 be correct for 21mm with a strap? Thanks.

Yes, 2209's are correct

That’s why I’m scratching my head: got off the phone with Swatch USA this afternoon, and they said 2208 for ref 234.92.41.21.10.001, with a 21mm lug width.

@Archer would know what springbars it standard is equipped with.

Yes, that's what it says - 2208's with the strap. Why? Who knows...

Thanks for the confirmation. That’s puzzling. The only explanation I can come up with: the OEM strap at the lug end is 5mm in thickness; maybe the technicians thought this was thick enough to prevent loss through wiggle?

Not sure - the only time I would expect to see a "bracelet" length spring bar used on a strap, is when the strap has what I would describe as end link like design characteristics. So instead of just a hole in a leather strap, a harder plastic end link that has limited space to retract the spring bar, like you would see in a steel end link (these are more common on rubber straps I find). It's not that type of strap on this watch from what I see, so again not the normal spring bar I would expect.

Thanks again. If you were to speculate: on Omega’s part, was this intentional…or an oversight?
