Thank you guys. Im going on the market for a speedy. Now i need to read some thread to figure out if i go vintage, or i take a 1861 one the grey market. Maybe a brand new 3861, not sure. Thanks
Since you mentioned hesalite specifically, do keep in mind that hesalite is much more easily scratched than sapphire so in that sense it will show more wear.
Of course the upside is that you can easily polish out small scratches yourself, and a replacement hesalite crystal costs less than a replacement sapphire crystal.
The WR issue for speedy is exaggerated. Both watches will be fine in a swim as long as you maintain the gaskets (tested yearly or so and replaced when necessary).
Have you physically handled both yet? They are completely different watches in hand and your preference should be apparent. The diver is much more substantial and feels like a tank. I have both and am glad I have both, purchased the diver in June and 3861 a week ago, but they are not similar.
