First post! This forum has been a great source of information and super useful for me, so I’d like to make a small contribution.

I recently put together a 3-link style bracelet for my SMP300 using a mix of Hamilton & Omega parts.

The bracelet is from a Hamilton Khaki Expedition 41mm and tapers slightly from 20 to 18mm. The end links fit snugly ton the SMP300 case by using 1.5 thick springbars.

MUCH more solid & heavy than Forstner bracelets, but it uses a pin & collar system - no big deal imo since you only adjust once.

Clasp is OEM 3-position, non diver extension.

To join clasp to bracelet I used 18mm wide connector links meant for 1861 speedy.

Posting part info for anyone interested to build their own. Pricewise I guess the best option is to call your local Swatch service center.

Bracelet - Hamilton Khaki Expedition 41mm H695000007

Bracelet/clasp links - 118ST1589 x2

Clasp: 117STZ004666

I also own (and enjoy) the OEM 5-link bracelet, mesh and rubber deployant, as well as the Forstner presidential.

Must say that looks great & vastly improves the mesh and OEM bracelet IMHO.

Is the fit flush all round? Does the clasp still have micro adjustments? Any modifications to existing hardware to fit?

Excellent modification! I should do something like this for my 2209 PO, since I really don't care for its bracelet.

Very nice. I dislike the SMP bracelet for every day wear. I have my 90s SMP on the first gen Aqua Terra bracelet.

The one tweak I would make is to use the clasp from the current gen Heritage 300. It has a three position on the fly adjustment but it's not as wide as the 117STZ004666--which is made the 20mm links on the SMP. The Heritage 300 clasp is 18.5mm wide. If anyone is interested it's part number 117STZ014058. The connecting links reference above work with this clasp. Or you can order the connecting links that are original to the Heritage 300. They are 16mm wide.

Here it is on my 2201.50 Planet Ocean, but I also use it with my first gen Aqua Terra bracelet:

In terms of the flushness of fit, after having a closer look, the endlinks are pressing against the watch case at 3 points - the top of the endlink and the 2 bottom tabs. There is a slight gap between the 2 opposing faces of the case and the endlink.

So not a flush fit like on OEM or purpose-made bracelets like the Forstner.

However there is no play at all, and i did have to jiggle the endlink for the springbars to seat into the holes properly.

Gotta love the way Seamaster divers look on oyster-style bracelets. I wear my 3rd-gen (Rio 2016) on an Aqua Terra bracelet and it’s just perfection.

This looks awesome, though is it putting a lot of strain on the springbars? Maybe that’s just my imagination, but I’d be worried if so—don’t want that to be a sudden problem when you’re standing over a hard surface. Maybe curved springbars would help?

I don’t like it.
SMP300 has an original bracelet (Bond), which is an integral part of the SMP’s design—that’s the one should use.
There’s also a Milanese mesh option.

Also, Omega’s parts is built to a much higher standard and quality than Hamilton’s parts.
It’s like putting Lada seats into an Audi.

I do not recommend this "modification."

Owning a few of each (Hamilton and Omega) I'm not sure Audi/Lada comparison is the best. I have owned Audi but never Lada so maybe. His watch his choice.

have fun

The Hamiltons I’ve owned have been pretty high quality watches. Just not as brand-hyped as Omega. (Not saying they’re Omega’s equal, by any means, but they’re not the brand I’d use to signify cheapness.)

Anyway, don’t think the OP was asking permission. I, for one, like much about the SMP but find the Bond bracelets just awful. It’s not an uncommon opinion, I don’t think.

Each to their own. But the SMP 9 link style bracelet & mesh are both horrendous in my eyes & one of the reasons I’ve not purchased a Seamaster.

The original may be ‘iconic’ but it’s looking very dated & lack of taper seems to be a common issue with many.

Aren’t bracelets all made in China now? Doubt the tolerances are that much different between Swatch brands.

I do have and enjoy wearing the OEM options 👍

Which bracelet is next to the mesh?
Forstner 1450 / Presidential. Its what started the hunt for a higher quality option. It was comfortable but too light, and didn’t balance out the watch head, which would be slipping back & forth on the wrist even when worn properly.

That and I didn’t like the “JB “ branding on the clasp so I switched out to a 1162 clasp.

One crucial step I missed out here - one of the Hamilton links needs to be filed down by about 1.5mm to fit the 118ST1589 clasp link. I used a mini belt sander for this.

Great suggestion, I bent the springbars ever so slightly, maybe 5deg? and they fit with a much more positive click now.
