Speedy on a Small Wrist

I'm not officially ready to take a turn to the Dark Side but let's just say that I'm beginning to have impure thoughts. My biggest reservation is that my wrists are on the smaller size. I know we have tons of Speedy related threads but can Speedy owners with smaller wrists post some photos? I'm curious to see if I can even pull this off. Must resist the force....

Thanks.

What's your wrist size? Mine is 6.75" and I can barely pull off a 42mm watch. Here is my 42mm 165.024 with very similar case:

I'm just a smidge under 7.0". Glad to see I"m not the only small-wristed forum member!

On the plus side you guys are perfect for vintage Constellations and Seamaster dress pieces. They always look a little large on me.

I had the same problem, I finally found a beater Broadarrow thinking I'll try it and if I didn't like it I could just flip it quick.
That was 3 years ago and I'm still wearing it almost daily, my wrist is a touch over 6" and I love this watch.
I have other Speedmasters but I like that this one is an auto and already scratched...actually beat.

The DsOTM wears comfortably and smaller than the 44mm might suggest... can just pull it off IMO. The normal speedy however sits more natural on my wrist, which is about 7" dead. Wrist shape is as important than size;-)

Pretty big on my wrist (about 6 in) and makes the rest of my watches look puny, but I'll still wear it. 😀

I think that hunk of metal looks great on you.

own it.

the speedmaster is such an iconic watch that it looks good on every wrist.

my watch wrist is around 8 5/8" and I don't mind wearing a 32mm. I feel above all else, a wristwatch should match your clothes and the occasion. Meaning: I wouldn't wear a Panerai with a dinner jacket or tuxedo. Awkward looking (IMHO)

I have a 6.3" wrist, and a 42mm 3594.50 Speedy. Seems to work ok. Personally the overly long 'tail' of standard straps bothers me more than whether the watch looks overly big!

You can always order a custom shell cordovan or similar for about $110-150, a few sellers here do them, then you can get any length you choose

Yup, the best way I've found is a custom strap. Problem is that they're pricier 🙁 If only I could custom-make all my straps.

My wrists are so slim, sometimes even "short" straps of 110/70mm aren't short enough. While I can wear them without punching a new hole, the tail bugs me. What I'd really really like are 105/60mm straps, but they're often classified as ladies straps, come in bright colours, seldom have the style I want, and are usually for 14 or 16mm lug widths, occasionally in 18mm, and never in 20mm. So far only Nomos makes them in that 'XS' size.

There's always the cheese pizza approach, I could even prescribe some toppings to help.

Try Hadley Roman oil tan short strap, these might fit. Good length for me and they look good for about $20 😀

My feelings as well. For example, a Rolex dive watch with a sort of fabric NATO strap in full evening wear just doesn't work. Look at this Guy, I could never pull this off and would have gone with a Constellation on leather strap:

Ah well, I suppose some people can get away with anything 🙄

More seriously, I have a 6.75" wrist and went through the same thoughts about wrist size fifteen years ago. Easy and comfortable to wear.

Cheers, Chris
