So far the only thing the irks me is the small hard to wind crown. It's too small for my fingers and I cant grip it good. It's a pain to wind...that's all.
Hmmm ... mine's very accurate, it's good lookin', its appearance is timeless, it's a great size, the chronograph function adds interest and usefulness, and it's not automatic or quartz. What's not to like? The pushers slightly restrict my large fingers when I wind it, yet I love winding the Speedmaster because of this. It is no real hindrance to ably winding up the watch. It's just a perversely gratifying characteristic feature of a watch I always enjoy wearing. Winding the Speedmaster. This isn't hard.
i use my nails to wind my speedmaster crown because my fingers cant grip the crown between the pushers with the flesh of the finger
The fact that I don’t really have the opportunity to use the chronograph for its intended function - due to the lack of a nearby race track, and a suitable car
Dont get me wrong. Not bashing it. Been wanting this legendary watch forever. Runs within cosc even though it's not a chronometer. Great watch!! Now I need to get me a bond watch.
I bought mine when I worked for an Omega dealer. I mostly wore a Rolex watches at work, and he told me he would appreciate if I would wear an Omega at work. He said he’d give me a very good deal on the one of my choice. This was 30 years ago. I was not an Omega fan back then. I gave some thought to the choice of an Omega, and settled on the Speedmaster that I have. I bought it, not because I wanted it, but because it was the closest thing to my Rolex Daytona that Omega offered. I also have a Speedmaster reduced which I bought because I WANTED it. That one I prefer. With approximately 60 wrist watches (not considering pocket watches) in my collection, the Speedmaster waits its turn.
I like it pretty much as it is.....however, given my druthers, I would like it to hack, would like the bracelet to either (1) have half and/or quarter links and more micro-adjustments or (2) have a clasp that adjusts like the newest Seamaster. Those are minor issues, the Speedmaster is iconic, classic, historic, unique and my favorite. If I could have only one watch, it would be my Hesalite Speedy.
I can Palm a basketball and have no issues winding the speedy. Use the side of your thumb and fore finger.
