Despite your opinion, I loved my 14060M and as the sole owner of the watch, seeing it turn vintage gradually is especially sweet. Its bracelet is great and firm.

Excellent write up. I am in a similar boat with a 1985 sea-dweller "triple six" matte dial and a new to me 105.012-65. I have to admit, while the dweller was a gift and I will never part with it, I sincerely enjoy the speedy more. There is something about the look/feel/story of a speedmaster. What a good read.

if you were sailing in the america's cup; (salt water racing) what watch would the navigater wear?
If you're ranking them based on what extreme locations people have worn them, I don't think you can beat the Speedy.

The same thing happened to me in the mid 1990's. I could not decide between a 1967 5512 Sub and an ST105.003 Speedy. I bought the Sub and went back the following day to buy the Speedy. So simple and without the pedantry associated with buying such items today.... I only wanted something to tell the time. if I were doing the same today I probably would not buy either because I would be so tied up in minutiae of one description or another rather than enjoying it for what I see in it... Never looked back and between them they are everything I need in my mechanical timepiece.

You are so lucky to have them both and also to have such a simple thinking unlike present day watch buyers.

Thank you! My 5512 is currently being serviced. As soon as I have her back I will post a picture of the pair. The hardest thing is which one to wear on any particular day. Not a problem for the time being though. The Speedy wins hands down! Best wishes.

Great comparison and I am that position my self at the moment pondering on a daily wearer having boxed up my beloved bi metal sub after nonstop wearing for 13 years I decided I needed a "proper" watch not a jewellery piece however I like a watch with a date and most vintage watches I find to small or like the Speedy no date
I am currently using a Zenith big pilot which is a great watch but the leather strap means no showers or swimming so holidays mean back out with the sub!
Any suggestions
alternatively can you form a petition and get Darren to donate his gold speedy ,for that I would go without the date !!!!!!!!!
