An enjoyable read. The point about finding this reference of Speedy which is all original is illuminating. Everything I have read is that this is almost impossible, so I have almost convinced myself that in the long run I would be more content to acquire the modern "321", and let it become vintage on my wrist. Ultimately though, if an certifiably unmolested '57 came along while I had the loose cash I would have to go that way. I appreciated the personal impressions of how it just feels right after wearing a few days.
The speedmaster is a ‘better’ watch in my opinion; it offers more and I think Omegas are better watches, but that’s a personal thing. However no doubting how classic the Sub is
I think both watches are very special and its not fair to compare them. Both deserve a place in any collection. I have a 14060 and a 145.022 69 and love them both equally.
Two Classic watches, the Submariner and the Speedmaster, two watches that are more than worthy of a place in any watch collection. I own both although neither are from the 'classic' era but mere modern replicas, a 2019 Speedy and a 2020 Submariner, both get a lot of time on my wrist.
