I think they are great watches for the buck, I don't understand exactly why they have languished so much.

A bit overexposed, but here's mine on OG bracelet

Every Speedie fanboy needs at least one.

(Uh Oh, does that make me a SFB?)

I love the Mark II! Great case style, great movement. And you can wear it both great on strap and bracelet. I own a racing edition but it's a bit worn. Doubting about giving it a full restoration (dial, hands, lapping of the case) because I love those vivid colors popping out.

I'm looking to buy a MKII as my first vintage watch, love the look and feel of them. I've noticed two different brackets/clasps, I think they are 1159 &1162. Did these come on specific years, or am I just coming across brackets that have been changed by the owners.

Good choice. The MKII does indeed came on 2 different original bracelets. They started to come out with the 1159 bracelet. And around 1971 the 1162 appeared on the MKII. So please check if your bracelet matches the production date of the movement of the MKII you are buying.

Lovely watches these Mark II's, I am very happy to own one.

Did you guys now there are different variants of the tachymetre crystal? Both versions have been posted in this thread.

Do you store all your watches next to huge magnets 😀?

These have really started to interest me and have just started the hunt for an honest racing dial version.

I like mine a lot. It was battered when I bought it so had the case refinished and service dial and hands put in at STS when it was serviced. which means it looks great and can be easily read, (I've kept the originals).
