for the other lucky owners: is your start/stop of chrono button a bit hard to press and noisy?
Mine is more or less exactly like my other Speedmasters.

A grey dealer now offered me the Apollo 8 for a really good deal with delivery in under a month, now this really gets tempting even when i would prefer to buy from an AD...
Maybe time to get into some negotiations and see what deal i decide for ...

It really seems to become widely available now

Hold your fire till you see the whites of their eyes😀

I would wait two months for the Apollo 11 LE launch (I think some on the OF have mentioned May as a likely month). The new Speedy LE releases will probably distract and interrupt possible purchases of the Apollo 8 DSOTM, and an excess stock of the Apollo 8 will almost certainly facilitate any future negotiation with your AD.

it's also possible the Apollo 11 may push some buyers to look at the Apollo 8 😀 I do feel like Apollo 8 may end up being a more exciting watch in the end.

It was 25% ... the max i have seen fo far here was 28% on the DSOTM which is already pretty „old“, so 25 is really amazing already i think...

I've experienced this once before from a grey before (Jomashop). Said it'd be a week, turned into several. Just a note to say that you should go into this with your calendar wide open (don't mistake me, I hope to be wrong).

hmm I wound my watch when I received it and now it’s dead/lost time. I did run the chrono for a few hours yesterday but isn’t it supposed to last 24h at least?

interesting: I wound it again on my wrist and stopped as soon as there was resistance then removed it to adjust the time and I was able to wind it a lot more after that... is that normal (to get a resistance and then be able to wind it a lot more a bit later) - maybe that's why yesterday it wasn't wound fully and died around 18h later ?

I had the exact same thing with mine. It is fine now, three/four weeks later.

Thanks for replying, glad it’s « normal » and it seems so far that happened only once that first day for me (and/or maybe I am turning the crown harder now)

different topic: it is running a bit fast: 5s fast over the first 2 days and another second this morning, so maybe 1.5s fast/24h - that’s I guess pretty good for mechanical ? my other automatic are around that as well

I was asking about in a SoCal OB, and there was no stock. I need to pay in full to get on the "list" and there is no ETA.

I smiled, thank them, and was on my way.

Its like Honda dealer wants me to buy the Civic Type R with no test drive ... its hot already, but its not that hot. 😜

Just generally, i think it’s amazing that something so small can be that accurate. That sounds similar to mine. Are you still in love with it? I worried that I would regret spending so much cash after a few days living with it, but a month later I’m still absolutely fascinated by it.

Not once in three Omega boutiques and one AD was I asked for even a deposit, let alone pay in advance.

Couldn't be sure, but it seems that the OBs and ADs that take deposits from "committed" customers use the information to try influence Omega to allocate watches to them as they become available. But then some just appear online, at OBs and ADs pseudorandomly and the interested buyers scoop them up.

I love it so far but it’s been less than a week. 16s fast so far

Just got a replacement strap from Jean Rousseau for my Apollo 8 but they don’t have the two small gaps to allow access to the springbars. As a reult not sure if they can be fitted (and removed for that matter!). Have attched pics to show the issue. Feel a bit stumped so any help would be much appreciated.

I too put a deposit down on this watch in April or May at my OB but was told no earlier than Feb 2019.
I loved the watch and at my age ,waiting for something special is enjoyable as it adds to the excitement.
Ordered and received the Cordura strap from Jean Rousseau with the yellow stitching in anticipation of the delivery.

For those who got the JR cordura strap with yellow stitching. Did you try it out on your Apollo 8 yet and if so can you maybe share some pictures? It would be highly appreciated as i am really debating if i shall go the same way, as i want a deployant clasp really bad.

Has anyone spoken to Jean-Rousseau about making a bespoke version of the Apollo 8 OEM strap but altered to work with Omega’s OEM DSOTM ceramic/titanium deployant clasp?

Just a thought but why not try another strap maker?
Someone's bound to be able to make what you require.

This is the closest I could find to an apollo 8 strap with the option of a deployant. Of course I'm sure that if you go with their custom strap maker you can get a good strap quite a bit cheaper.

It seems that when I had the hour marker of the chronograph of my Apollo 8 corrected, a bit of dust got into the watch, as it landed on the hour dial this morning. The result was a pleasant hour in the Omega boutique in Oxford Street, trying on a PloProf, an Aqua Terra, a Bullhead and a Planet Ocean Big Blue whilst the dust was removed. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff in there.

Also, they now have the Apollo 8 sitting there on display, from which I infer no waiting list, so I’d forget paying £10,000 for one, if you were thinking of it. They’re coming.
