I think the verdict is TBD. There are still not a lot of these out there even though it is not a limited edition. It is a unique piece that is polarizing for people. You either like the look, or you think it is too busy. I, for one, have yet to see it in the flesh. I know that my OB has sold two already.

Yeah I had to see it in person first as well, when I did I loved it. I just really don’t want to pay a price that if I ever want to sell it to find something else I don’t have to take a 40% hit on top of the 10% I got off.

I have a chance to get this watch at 10% off at my local AD... Question is, will it just be another original DSOTM that will just be had for like 40% off or even 20% in a few months?

Agreed that this will be TBD, but the polarizing design and lower MSRP are points that would lead you to rationalize for and against the watch getting devalued in the secondary markets.

Buy it if you like it. Don’t if you don’t.

I think you should buy the watch if you like it, if not wait for another one that you might want better. I believe the real collectors don’t think too much about how the watch is going to do in the future. They buy what they want and like. Yes it’s nice if you don’t loose money but I want a watch that I can enjoy. I have had a lot of watches in my collection through the years I have lost a lot of money on some and gain a lot in others. At the end I believe I have come up even. But I enjoy the journey and my watches. I bought one of this (DSOTM Apollo 8) by the way at full price at an OB. I waited almost a year to get it and I love it. If you can get it at 10% or more off and like it go ahead and don’t worry about the future.

I placed a deposit for one today after being on the fence between the SS Apollo 11 and the Apollo 8. In the end I feel the Apollo 8 is more special and unique. I have not seen one in person so I hope I do like it once it’s on the wrist. Now I wait for it to arrive.

Did they give you an estimate on when to expect the watch?

It’s certainly an attractive watch, but from all the pictures I’m seeing on peoples wrists it looks pretty big.

It does certainly wear big but not too bad. It’s very nice just a bit too large for me, but a great looking watch.

I think that the watch is not that big. Depending on what do you have in your collection. Here are some pictures of some of my watches.

Personally I have to wear bigger than usual watches, for my wide and flat wrist, but I’m just commenting on not seeing anybody with a large wrist posting pictures with these.

In which case, it will suit you very well and it’s very nice.

The store manager estimates 1-2 months. She said she will get 1 or 2 in with every shipment.

Where are you located? Was it an AD or OB. Just curious because one of the managers from my OB told me that they were accepting deposits but they didn’t have any real information on delivery time from corporate so they could not tell a customer a specific date.

Singapore ION Orchard OB. I think Singapore get a large allocation of limited editions overall. Down the road at another AD, they currently have all three 60th anniversary Trilogy on display. I’ve never seen the Seamaster nor Speedmaster Trilogy before anywhere. I thought the Speedmaster Trilogy was long sold out. This watch had limited edition number 3xxx so its near the end of the production I believe.
