Interesting reading about the strap hate. Guess I’d have to feel it in person. It really is appealing though, the yellow looks sweet

The Speedmaster Apollo 8 Dark Side of the Moon made the Watchtime February 2019 cover. Dead curious to know what more they can say about it since the October 2018 review. Did anyone read the article? Last five to show up were in Miami a few weeks back. Are any more of these showing up in the wild? Anybody?

I just sold mine and found the same. I had to take a price hit.

Seems a bad time to sell a piece like this given the Apollo 11 announcements. I think those that’d go for a piece like this would likely go for the Apollo 11 stainless steel 50th anniversary instead (rumoured)

Just got a replacement strap from Jean Rousseau for my Apollo 8 but they don’t have the two small gaps to allow access to the springbars. As a reult not sure if they can be fitted (and removed for that matter!). Have attched pics to show the issue. Feel a bit stumped so any help would be much appreciated.

Why not ask J-R to make the modifications so the strap is like their others?

Just see one on display at an OB. The manager said since the recent announcements (321,50th anniversary) and rumors about an SS version for the anni. People are afraid to pull the trigger on this one.

I will add my story, deposited money more than a year ago, was promised august, then september, then december, then 2019,... still no sign of the watch at my AD which claims only boutiques got some...

This is all starting to have a “Rolex” stink about it. Not helped by seeing the one in the for sale forum today for 13K! Oh Omega, please don’t continue down this road...

I don't know what country you are in, but I got mine through a boutique, first enquired in August, had to wait a bit until this month. I haven't had any contact at all from the AD I also enquired at. I didn't have to put any money down at all. That's in the UK: London.

Some informations: OB in Hongkong said it will take 4 to 8 weeks for the apollo 8, while the retailer told me to wait for at least 3 months.

Has anyone tried this watch with different straps? Other than the JR cordura with yellow stitching that a couple of OF members posted (but not yet on the watch), it would be nice to see alternatives. I think the OEM leather has too much yellow which creates a distraction from the watch itself.

Incidentally two more mates have fallen in love with mince since seeing it and are putting their own orders in, turned down a $2k flip offer on mine, just love it too much.

it seems the actual watch hands are more grey in actual watch pictures than white in the promo materials ?

ps: re my problem getting the watch: my AD and I are in California, USA

it’s a bummer to advertise this watch on a magazine cover that will drive demand when people who ordered a year ago can’t get theirs

The watch hands are sort of a matte black brushed look similar to the case, so I would say they are black but they catch light and actually are very reflective almost silver looking in certain lighting. The lume is epic btw, far better than expected.

Wasn't keen on the original strap. Too much yellow and not a fan of the pin/buckle. Bought one from JR but wasn't impressed by the quality. In the end I opted for the Black Cordura Omega/deployant clasp found on the Black Black. Think it looks much better. Yellow accents now more subtle!

i meant the lume /light part that is white in promo shots and seem grey in actual ones, makes it hard to spot/read the time during daylight

Great improvement, should have came on that deployment. Not that I dislike the original, but prefer deployment at that price point.
