Any photos to let us admire your new toy?

It would have been interesting if it were a limited edition, it would be very different from the previous editions, except for the 45th anniversary apollo, which was a very different and very successful watch, for its materials and design

I’ve had one on reserve putting a deposit down back in April.... And my OB has offered no info at all. Kind of odd, but I’m not really surprised. Omega’s ability to offer “accurate information” to its base has become appalling, pushing supporters and collectors to seek other options.

Be careful Omega! You’re pushing loyal supporters/collectors away because your OB’s provide us inaccurate information, a lack of information, and your national campaign’s are even worse! I won’t go into other area’s, but I will say this; You took my deposit and promised a watch in August. WHERE IS IT?
I too put a deposit down on this watch in April or May at my OB but was told no earlier than Feb 2019.
I loved the watch and at my age ,waiting for something special is enjoyable as it adds to the excitement.
Ordered and received the Cordura strap from Jean Rousseau with the yellow stitching in anticipation of the delivery.

I was wondering if you special ordered the strap and if you know if the Omega buckle can be use with it. It looks really nice and I am interested in getting one.

Google Jean Rousseau Paris and in the menu click Bespoke. Then customize a watch strap as you want it. I love the genuine omega condura strap I have and I'm ordering one from JR today in 19mm for my RM

Can I ask how much that custom strap cost?

I am looking to switch my Apollo 8 off the supplied strap to a new strap that works with folding clasp. I enquired at OB and from their Dark Side of the Moon strap lineup, a new black strap plus black (ceramic) folding clasp comes to £480 ($620) which is pretty steep (it’s the black ceramic folding clasp: it’s £300 / $386 alone).

Hence I am curious how much a bespoke strap costs.

As an aside: Trying to track down a third party yellow accented sport strap in 21mm with folding clasp is a PIA.

So the lug size on the Apollo 8 is the same as the other DSOMs even though the case is different?

Correct. The case is the same diameter as all the others (44.25 mm) and lug width (21 mm). The only size difference is that it’s a little thinner (i.e. less high on the wrist)

Also looking to swap the standard strap on my Apollo 8 for one that fits the folding clasp. Popped into Jean Rousseau in London and they quoted me £155 for the strap with a four week delivery time.

They're selling under market as you can order one from any OB at retail so not much point in flipping

Hi, I've been looking all over for something like this ever since I got my CK2998 Pulsometer. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I am looking at the site and was curious as to what lining material you chose for your strap? Thanks in advance!

I like the Apollo 8 and the style with the partly open movement and the moon surface. But I am not finished with the decision, if I like it so much that I have to buy it. It is indifferent.

Love the watch. Hate the strap. The plastic feel of the top is just dreadful. The original DSOTM was my first contemporary Omega and now having the Apollo 8 I think it is time to part ways with the DSOTM. The lower profile makes a huge difference and I like the traditional chain layout and no date. Thinking about switching to the strap from the All Black DS with the white stitching.

Good to read your feedback. Isn't the strap leather on top and rubber underneath? Strange that the leather feels like plastic, isn’t it? Do you wish that it had a deployant clasp instead as well?

I can +1 the comments regarding the strap. While a bit “meh” as a strap, in it’s defense it is soft and supple, but I can just tell it’s going to get wrecked and stretched from normal wear really quick.

Also the pin itself from the pin buckle is super weird and not very easy to undo (it has a weird right angle bend), but I think this is a standard DSOTM strap pin, so maybe I’m just not used to it.

The watch is tho...

Congratulations to the person who's going to collect theirs from the Brookefield OB soon!

I got a chance to take a peek and it's very well done. Was able to compare it directly with the original DSOTM ... thickness is immediately noticeable as is the 3 sub dials.

Other details i noticed was the case ceramic looked "less black" than the DSOTM due to the gray dial.

*I'll also echo that more refinements to the strap would certainly boost the aesthetics that much further ... mainly the thickness of the strap, and the rubber reinforcements that's on the holes.

Big fan of this - I see that you were able to spec the insert on the case side that would leave no gap ... was that an extra charge?
