And it went for just over $91k... plus the ~20% auction fee and someone just paid well north of $100k. It's a lot of money, but if I had the money, I'd have paid that much to win this one. Congrats to the winner - whoever you are!
That number is going to make some 2998 owners on here start thinking.....$100K looks really good in your TDAmeritrade account.
810,000 kr + 20% buyer's premium = 972,000 kr That's just over $110k. Anyone get closer than my 108k estimate? Congrats to the new owner. It's a grail.
Please understand that this is just a question with no bad intentions. We all know that different museums, Patek in particular, run up the prices of their most desirable watches at auction to maintain or increase the value of their current holdings. Furthermore they are not upset with paying these big numbers for the right watches and simply add them to their collection. If an individual with an already deep collection of Speedmasters and an even deeper pockets be wise to do the same to protect and increase the value of his own growing collection? Just askin'
Can we please not turn this into another bubble speculation thread? Feel like that's been done 50x in the past two years and it's always the exact same echo chamber. Back to the 2998 - is this the highest sum paid for a 2998? I can't think of another $100K Speedy outside of 2915s
I confess that I'm glad I bought a 2998-1 two years ago. Edit: For what seemed like an outrageous amount of money.
