In 13th of May a lovely Speedmaster is up for auction at Kaplans auctionhouse in Stockholm, Sweden.

Best example of speedmaster long time seeing, look at bezel indicator in last photo.This is what makes difference in originality.

 

That is a superb example! Anyone want to guess the final price?

 

Judging from how the market has been going I'm going to shoot for the moon and say $50,000 at least.

@donkii Did your friend find it at the auction house viewing, or find it somewhere else and consign it?

Just as an aside, on the assumption that the auction house pictures and the more casual photos are of the same watch... how touched up are those auction photos?!

 

Also, was the bezel swapped??

Does anyone else think the hour hand looks odd?
Too much fill, not enough surround

 

Interesting that the watch has the larger hour hand more normally seen on a 2915-3, a lollipop more normally seen on a 2998-2 and 3 and a naiad crown which may or may not be original. Very interesting!

 

If the bezel is damaged (paint chips) as the "barn find" picture suggests, no cleaning will fix it IMO.

 

I'm going to guess $85-90k

 

The picture shot by my friend is with a cellphone camera wich isn't good enough to auto correct the whitebalance. The light in the picture taken by him makes the watch no good.
Regarding the bezel, it's been cleaned, nothing more than that. One of the best base 1000 bezels I've seen in a while. He took the picture before the auctionhouse even knew about it. Kaplans does not touch up photos

 

Ok my bet it should reach the 80 grands

That is a hand that I have not seen before. Doesnt mean it is not correct, I just have not seen it before.
