·this is a phenomenal write up......I am a "date" guy...need it for work and making sure I don't drink expired milk 😲
anyway, I never knew this reference existed......I was about to settle on the 3861 Sapphire Moonwatch, but I knew deep down I would regret it since it has no date complication.....
I actually tried on the hesalite Moonwatch and the Racing at a Boutique.....preferred the Racing as it had the date function, but my mind was trying to convince me on how I could pass on the iconic moonwatch.....
With this reference it looks like a moonwatch (easy to read the time with those white hands), date function, GMT, jump hour.....can this get any better......

I'm really glad you found it useful! I know what you mean - as much as I can appreciate the clean aesthetics of a no-date dial, the everyday utility of a date complication is hard to beat for my money. Another three years on from writing this review - six years total since I bought it - and my enjoyment of this one hasn't waned. Good luck with the hunt!

·Hi, wanted to thank you for this awesome review. It was helpful enough that I pulled the trigger on purchasing a pre owned 9300 for myself, my first Omega. I like watches on the larger side, my previous watch was a TAG Carrera cal 16 chrono at 43mm. I never tried the speedy on in person but I’ve seen several people complain about thickness, and saw a few pics where to my eyes, it looks much too big on their wrist. I was pleasantly surprised when I put it on and it absolutely "wears small". It looks and feels smaller and slimmer than the tag. The metal bracelet looks great but I’ve always been more of a leather strap guy, and this watch looks great on just about anything. I have wanted a Speedmaster for years now, and the classic moon watch/speedy professionals are easily one of the most classic looking watches ever made. Between the date window and beautiful automatic movement, I was sold on the 9300 co axial. I’ve worn it every day since and couldn’t be happier with it.

·Congrats. This is also my first Omega purchase. It’s my main watch over the Seamaster and the De Ville. It runs about 4 sec fast per day, which I don’t mind. I think most 9300 run about the same.

When I was wandering though many unknowns when I wanted to buy my first "real" watch, Omega forums was instrumental in answering questions and helping to educate myself. Quick question for the other speedy 9300 owners here, what’s your serial number prefix? I bought mine used without any papers, and I’d like to estimate it’s age so I can determine when it should be serviced. Mine is 8741XXXX. It doesn’t look like it has much wear on it, but it could have been sitting in a box for the last decade. I believe they produced steel 9300s 2011-2017 if I’m not mistaken. Serial number decoders I found online were only useful for vintage speedmasters.

Mine starts with 867. I believe mine's from around 2014. There's a date on the barcode on the bottom of the white box, 2/11/15. Not sure if that's euro date or US date.

@Cenzo, I'm so glad you liked it, thanks very much for the feedback! OF really is a good place. It's still the internet of course, so a degree of caution is warranted. But I can honestly say that in all the years I've spent here and in the dozens of interactions I've had, there's literally only one single interaction I'd describe in negative terms. That's an incredibly good hit rate for an online forum and it's a testament to the community and the moderators. For that reason, OF is still the only place online I've ever used to buy watches or arrange for watches to be serviced. It's a great pleasure to share. Thanks for reading. See you around the boards!

·I have the 9900 version of this watch with the grey racing dial and Sedna gold bezel, markers and hands. It wears smaller than its 44.25mm size.
