Speedmaster 42mm bezel ring size difference?

Could I please ask the informed among us a question regarding bezel ring sizes.
I bought a 2001/2 Speedmaster here on the forum a few years ago. Just been serviced by Watch guy in UK and I’d sent a bezel (Telemetre) again bought here on the forum to be fitted during the service.
Model of my Speedmaster is 145.0022
The comment back from Ray was it is 0.05mm too small and the existing bezel is tight so no chance it will fit.
Did different Speedmaster models 42mm have different bezel ring sizes over the years?
I’m sure moonwatch book will tell me but I’m on holiday and impatient to have the answer.
The Bezel ring I wanted to fit is a Telemetre Km type.
Was this only available for a certain period as an option? Might tell me what it will fit.
Thanks in advance for any comment.

Regards
Jon

He can switch just the insert if the ring does not fit, heat up the ring so the glue softens, cut out the insert and clean out the residue and re apply. Or use a lath and thin it by 0.05 ? The pre 145xxx and the new ones with cal 3861 are different sizes but all 145xxx should be the same i think.

Yes, there were differences, and not all the bezels will fit all the cases. Same with case backs...this has been covered on the forum previously.

He did offer to shave a slither off it but at a fair cost, I didn’t want to add to my purchase and service costs or butcher a genuine bezel so left it.
I’ll probably just resell it but will find the models it will fit first.

Some people will use a particular Rolex tool to make slight adjustments to the size of bezels.

Curious to learn more about this as well. Using Google, I could only find this thread which seems to hint upon diameter differences between Speedmaster bezels, nothing very concrete, though.

I will be monitoring this thread with great interest. 😀
