Unless you have your heart set on a '74, I'd second the recommendation to consider a 3590.50. This particular reference gives you a lot for your money -- gilt plated 861 movement and a solidly constructed fully brushed 1479/812 bracelet that gives the watch a vintage look. The tritium dial markers and hands on this reference also tend to patinate beautifully. I recently sold this one to another OF member:

I like the sound of a late 60s or early 70s, age kinda has an attraction. However, will look at what you have suggested too. Seen a couple of later watches coming up in auctions over next few weeks.

Sure, to each his own. Truthfully, however, there's not much difference between any Speedmaster Professional standard reference that was produced after the 1971 145.022 (the last vintage model with a step dial) and the introduction of the caliber 1861/luminova models beginning with the 3570.50 in the 1997-1998 timeframe. The late sixties models are another matter altogether.

Another one to ponder.. This has the correct stuff with the exception of the caseback showing 74 when the dial and mech are 77.. Noted strange blemish between the '20' and '30' markers.. is this a manufacturing tolerance or has someone done a repair?
