I'd like to see a picture of the calibre.
Here you go. I wiped parts of serial number due to several occations in Norway with faked serials/images in sales ads lately.

Wonderful watch and echoing what other members have stated here, Omega may not be the best path for a service for this wonderful watch. Although he is located in England, Simon Freese may be a great option for a watchmaker who is familiar with this caliber.

Out of curiosity, how does it work when shipping a watch from the EU to the UK for service? Is there a question of VAT, import duties, etc for the work performed?

I can only answer for Norway (non-EU):
If you travel in person you can pay direct and bring the watch cross border in person. If the workshop charges VAT you can ask for them to not charge it. If they cant you might be able to get it refunded at airport.

When shipping (at least the norwegian) the VAT will always be charged as default at full retail price of item. But it will be ommitted as long as you can document that item came from norway originally and was shipped only for service.

All I can say is, getting anything in and out of the UK without paying import duty, even if you don’t have to as it’s a watch being serviced is impossible. Claiming duty back is also very very hard.m in my experience.

I’ve had to do it twice and both times gave up and wrote of the duty I shouldn’t have paid.

Some of the Apollo astronauts wore Speedmaster on this JB Forstner mesh you can find NOS or used one pretty cheaply and wear it like an astronaut until you find right vintage Omega bracelet.

Can’t you just wear it on your wrist taking to and from service?

yes of course if you’re happy to travel to the uk to drop off and collect your watch. Obviously this isn’t an option for many people

Thank you. A rally strap would be a good choice.

Wow! Thanks for sharing! Never seen these before.
Actually been searching for quite a while to find pictures of the actual watch he wore and also pictures of him to see what strap he wore in orbit, but could not find it. Do you know anything about the strap in the picture?

Great looking strap on a great watch! 😀 Did you buy the Omega clasp separate somewhere?

Not into Norway! If taxed it would be subject to 25% VAT at suggested second hand price...

Yes ebay they come up regularly but need to be careful most are fakes. See the buckle thread at the top of vintage watch section for education. You can post a possible purchase to get opinions on originality. This one cost about 65 USD that’s a reasonable price for original

Well maybe worth a UK holiday! For a 321 cal Speedy I would think it’s worth putting a n care of Simon Freese or STS.
