I need some advice from you experts. I have an Omega Speedmaster Professional pre-moon chronograph which was made in 1969, and is one of the rare so-called transitional models. I have worn it regularly until recently when it finally stopped running. It badly needs a complete servicing including cleaning, lubricating, and regulating. It also needs one minor repair, as the center (hour) sub-dial, when reset, does not go back to the twelve o'clock position. Because it has substantial collector value, I want to keep it as original as possible, both internally and externally, so I don't want to send it back to Omega for this work as I have heard all of the comments about them indiscriminately replacing parts. I live in central Virginia, and have taken it in to all of the local Omega dealers, but they will only send it back to Omega. I am willing to send it anywhere stateside and am not concerned with the cost, but don't have any idea where to send it. Any advice or experience with a similar issue would be very much appreciated. I want very badly to start wearing it again. Thanks so much in advance.

Welcome. I just answered your question on Timezone, so won’t repeat it here. But you will find this is a much livelier forum than Timezone and you will likely get a lot more suggestions for watchmakers to send it, too — Timezone only allows one to name sponsors.

And posting pictures here is a lot easier, so everyone would love to see one!

I’d send it to Kelly Hunter at Art of the Watch.
