I had the 60th seamaster booked but got the speedy instead,-of those two i think the seamaster 300 is the winner over the spectre.

Because vintage is a hot thing right now generally, and Omega are trying to cash in on that as much as they can. It's their responsibility to shareholders in the end, so if they feel it will make them more profits, they will use coloured lume instead of white.

I liked the MC with vintage lume, but now that we've got the 60th I think it'd be an interesting direction to go back to white on the MC. It'd differentiate them a bit better I think

I think the faux patina “craze” will still be with us for a long time. I believe it’s intended as a tribute to the “imperfection of the past” that some collectors/enthusiasts yearn for and thus make some of the “reissue” timepieces more appropriate.

I have the "standard" SS SM 300 MC and already had it on the OEM Nato strap before Spectre was released (OB gifted me with strap). It is a great sport's watch used at sea with no worries😀 I don't think the Spectre LE is worth the premium to be honest, but I can see why it would appeal to hardcore Bond fans.

If the OP wants a dressier watch the 60th LE is probably the best option. On the pre-owned / grey market the standard SM 300 MC seems to be the best bang for the buck.

Ref the lume, as commented above it is quite subtle live on the SM 300MC. For me "fauxtina" lume is just a warmer tone than white and it looks good with a black dial. I think most of the non WIS buying public would not even know what fauxtina looks like in the first place...so although I agree there is a nod from Omega for the "vintage / retro" trend, I think for the standard SM 300MC Omega were also just trying to go for something less monochromatic black/white to differentiate from the modern Rolex non-date Sub and Explorer.

In reality it's already been around for at least 10 years. Off the top of my head the first watch from a major brand I recall doing this was one of the first JLC "Tribute to Polaris" reissues from back in 2008. There were 2 versions - one a "65" reissue with applied markers, and a "68" reissue with brown coloured lume.

Omega wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last. Personally I have no issues with it, and don't think of it as "faking" anything - it's a style choice like any other.

None of the two models are commonly available these days. The more we discuss the more I want to get my hands on one of them.

Went to two boutiques last weekend and both had the 60th Seamaster and 60th Railmaster in stock on display with one of the ADs willing to negotiate, even though they are in the middle of one of the most expensive areas in the US. Spectre is definitely gone, though one may randomly pop up.

Even though the Spectre has 7,007 pieces while the 60th has like half that amount, I've seen quite a few Speedy 60th's available through grey dealers. I've seen way less Spectre's for sale and they are all listed for a 15-20% premium for a used watch nearly 3 years old.

Got to hold out on them relative deals. Bought a mint Spectre LE from DavidSW and negotiated to just below MSRP 4 months ago. The most dangerous thing in watch buying is the idea that you need this watch now and that there's no more opportunities in the future.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I’ve only ever been burnt pulling the trigger thinking I just have to have this now and the market price will only ever keep going up.

I’m thinking this is the case because more Spectres are in the hands of their “final” owner perhaps?

That also says more people would rather be the final owners of Spectre than trilogy seamster 300

Well that depends if the SM LE is sold out or not. If it is, then dealers may have them and inflating pricing just like the ST. So they haven't made it to their final home yet. Just because of the newness. This is all speculation of course 😀

Tough choice, I’ve read all the posts and can’t honestly decide. I own a Spectre and have worn it every day since I bought it a couple of year ago. I bought it because of my love for the vintage SM300 and was the closest you could get. Lollipop and bezel were a bit factor in me choosing this over a standard 300MC and was very happy it wasn’t overly 007ised!

When the trilogy came out, I was kicking myself and decided I couldn’t get the 300 as it was too similar and I loved the Speedy 60th so decision was made. If I was presented with both at the time of purchase my head tells me I would have probably gone with the 60th, but I absolutely love my Spectre so have zero regrets.

Another factor would be time. Trilogy only came out a year ago.

Agreed, watches luckily don't moon in pricing within the first year or two.

Definitely the 60th. Standard Seamaster 300m master coaxial is better than the Spectre.
