It’s not enough different from the standard 300 MC that I could justify the more than 2x price increase on the used market.

Brush out the bracelet and it's just about 1:1.
I think the 12 is much better than the Omega logo prominently featured. Oh yeah... I guess it has the countdown bezel, too. I dunno. I use mine in the water a good bit. I prefer the more recognizable diver style. Six of one...
The OG Master 300 was kind of a dream watch for me when it was new*. I passed up on the Submariner to get one, back when you could get them at nearer the same price.

*still is.

I agree with doing that to the bracelet, it is a bit too shiny.

Solid gold, man.
There are a lot of pluses to the Omega brand straps. They're tough, comfortable, and they clean up well and easily, if you're into getting a little rowdy. They don't hold a stink ( not to be crass ) like some straps are apt to, either. They stay looking sharp, too.
They're ridiculous expensive, but I'd never discourage anybody from getting one.

Ya I just got one and so far am pleased with it. Yet I will say it is a bit short for my 7 1/4” wrist without wetsuit.

It’s nice to see an Omega used for what it was designed for. To many are delicately worn at the office with a Diaper under it and a Qtip for detailing after a tough day of desk diving. Kudos to ya for actually diving with it.

Thanks!
I've posted this pic elsewhere, but it's worth repeating to the naysayers. I use a console type computer on the SPG hose, so it's usually tucked into the BCD. I use the watch to track bottom time at known depths, distances, surface intervals, and whatever else you'd use a watch for, rather than pulling out the console.
For me ( and just me ), I think it's a bit disingenuous to have a thing that doesn't get used for what it was designed to do.

PS: the "skeleton" hands and "inoperable" bezel on the SMP300 work just fine when you actually put them in the water, for those who insist on repeating that refrain. Cant speak to the helium valve...

First hand knowledge is always best. Nay sayers are usually those that just regurgitate what they read on the inter web and don’t actually use the item.

Seems like you use the watch for actual purpose and not just to know the time of day when under the waves.

Ps-What are your thoughts on Shining items like a watch attracting predator fish? Another inter web assumption?

Oh and cool photo ,would like to see more.

The Master 300 has been around sharks, and the SMP300 around some barracuda off Key Largo, back in June. I can report all appendages intact. I think I've put up a few more diving pics, and I don't have too many posts.

To the OP and to redirect my enthusiastic hijacking >>>
As shown at the top, I don't have the Spectre, but the Master 300 is a great piece of gear. It works as advertised, dresses up nicely, doesn't attract a lot of attention beyond fans, and feels like you're wearing something high quality and nice. It truly is the real deal.
If you're a big Bond fan, I'd say go for the Spectre.
There are a ton of threads that basically end with, "The heart wants what the heart wants." You'll suffer that lingering niggle if you don't get what you want - assuming you can justifiably fund it.
If you just want the vibe and a GREAT watch, get the original and the Bond NATO for considerably less.

Well I do have the Bond Spectre Seamaster and in my eyes the differences are small but the details make it in total
a much better watch - it is the same with the Speedy LEs - small differences end up in a much nicer watch.

If it is worth a big price difference - if there is one on the second hand market? - your personal opinion!

I agree with others, it is not worth the extra price when the differences are minor. I use mine in the water so the Spectre never crossed my mind (I wanted a dive bezel), and I prefer the 12 vs the oversized Omega logo.

I think it depends on why you want one. If you're into collecting Bond watches, then yes it's probably worth it. Otherwise, it's hard to justify the price over a standard heritage 300 as others have stated.

In my case, I wanted the Spectre when it was first released and had a chance to buy one back then. But I passed, as I had just bought another Omega a few months before and felt the Spectre was very expensive. Another thing I didn't like about it was it sits very tall on the wrist, at nearly 15mm thick. However, it's a decision I regret as the Spectre has since appreciated greatly above its suggested retail and I personally feel it's still the nicest looking of the heritage Seamasters.

Having said that, I've never really had the urge to actually hunt one down since passing on it during its initial release. Because there's always some other "new" watch that catches my interest. For example, if Omega were to do a re-issue of their 60's classic Seamaster, I'd take that in a heartbeat over the Spectre.

I bought one from a second-hand dealer and the crown was broken off during shipping or before (who knows so sent it back). Killed my lust for the watch, but I do still like it. Does sit pretty tall but overall a quality watch. The lollipop tip on the second hand is pretty hard to beat too!

I had the chance to get a SM 300 that is the alternate to the Spectre version but there is something about this watch which makes me draw towards it. Might be the bezel. Spotted a few for sale in Japan but guessing the import fees will kill the buzz for me!

Yep it’s the lollipop hand and bezel for me that is the draw.
I do like the look of the seamaster 300 trilogy as well which seems to be another classic looking watch that is much cheaper than the Spectre

The Seamaster Trilogy would be my choice for looks and size, I prefer its smaller 39mm width.

The new heritage Seamaster 300 has the lollipop hand. Here's a comparison of the three (not exactly the same scale). The looks of the Spectre win for me, but just slightly. If one isn't a Bond fan, either the old version or new will do quite nicely.

And if I may add especially the skinny bezel makes it attractive AF.

I have the 300 Heritage and while I love much about it I have to begrudgingly admit -- it's a touch too large for me and I have a difficult time with legibility (to the degree when I wear it I find myself infinitely checking to see if there is some very thin, still unpeeled, sticker on the crystal, there isn't).
My '57 300 remains my favorite Omega diver. It's perfect.
