The more difficult was to choose the second one (16570) , in fact it like you have a money pool and you have to choose something in the middle of hundred watches !!
I tried the railmaster, so nice but out of budget ... I tried also a nice ultra tropical 145022 but finally i went for the explo. Most important was the datejust , a gift for someone...

Looks like good honest business! People know them and trust them. What did you trade up to?

Congrats on the sale and the new watches! I should have pulled the trigger on your watch. The pics on the hq website was really nice. Is that really how the watch looked or was it photshopped?

Collector prices and the market prices in general are often quite different, because the collector has a different goal than the "normal person". I paid $4400 for a Watchco Seamaster 300 because it has a NOS 552 movement and the rest of the parts were NOS as well. This is more than any collector would pay but for me it was an investment because it is now my daily watch and I plan to wear it for the next 30+ years. I'm pretty sure approximately zero collectors on this forum would pay that!

I read here because I am an Omega enthusiast, but I am not a collector. One day I'll get a gold Omega with a gold bracelet just for the amusement of having one, but beyond that, my new Seamaster and my 1997 Speedmaster are all I'll ever get.

That seller likely already had a buyer in mind when he bought your watch, and he had less into the watch he traded you. He made some money, you got what you wanted, and everyone is happy!

Ouch - that is way more than they normally cost...

Yes, I know... like I said, I paid extra for the NOS movement... and when it's the exact piece you want, sometimes you pay the asking price.

NOS? Really? Watchco calls a lot of things NOS that aren't in my experience...

That's what they said, and I had no reason to believe they were lying...

Here's the auction... the pictures are still there. http://www.ebay.com/itm/131432052137

Keeps good time and it looks good and I'm happy with it. My local watchmaker wasn't too thrilled with the crown, so they sent us a couple of replacements to find one that fit better and had a better spring in it.

Al, I think they should amend your subtitle to state "Omega Qualified Watchmaker and DreamCrusher" There is no one (or few) IMO that contribute more to this Forum with knowledge and generosity than you...unfortunately that comes with the painful reality of honesty and it's consequences.

Fair enough - it's just that they tend to call everything NOS, or more accurately "NOS condition" which to me sounds like a slippery way out of it not actually being NOS...

The movement is certainly in good condition, but I see them in this condition that have been inside watches for decades also. I was hoping to see the movement in some OEM packaging or something in the auction to indicate it was really NOS, but I only see shots of it in the watch.

Cheers, Al
