Is this a redial or I don't understand reflections?

If you love it, and you’re uninterested in taking the time to learn the skills to identify a good piece at a bargain price, I’d say go for it.
This. 👍

I've spent hundreds of hours so I could avoid paying $2100 for a watch like this. But if I wasn't in the space to spend time on this whole endeavor, I'd probably buy from a guy like Omega Enthusiast. He is a well regarded seller. No games.

I've exchanged a couple of emails with him already, seems like a decent person. Was happy to engage in an exchange to find out what I'm really looking in a vintage watch.
Part of me says "pay the noob tax, and get something good" and the other part is all about risking it by buying a low value item from eBay or similar and see how it goes.

I'd just say that for every watch like the one in your original post on eBay, there are 10 duds. It's worse odds than Russian roulette (though the stakes are admittedly lower 😜).

I think it's about time. Are you willing to put in the dozens of initial hours to learn how to discern a gem from a turd? If so, start here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/

Thanks for that. I visited that page early on. I think a re-read is in order!

If you think you might like to collect vintage watches, it's really all about the chase.

A large part of the enjoyment in the hobby is taking the time to read and research the many different marques and huge variety of models that existed from the time when watches were everyday tools for telling time. You'll find yourself naturally more interested in certain pieces than others, or perhaps certain eras (the 1950s), or styles (divers), or marques (Omega) will captivate you. Look for forum members who also collect the watches that appeal to you - they'll be helpful with advice on what to look for when you're ready to take the plunge. Remember, the right vintage watch for you has been waiting decades for you to find it.

Or you can skip all of this malarkey and just buy from a dealer who has done the work for you. But what fun is that?

My problem now is I can't decide what I want! I guess that's part of the journey/pain/fun.

As an aside, looking back at the thread, it occurred to me it might seem like I'm questioning this particular seller's authenticity. I hope it's clear I wasn't, the watch is just the example I used to test my investigation skills. I saw plenty on eBay that I had no doubt were redials, so I had no need to ask about them here.

I would be more pleased

Buying this recently serviced also

https://omegaforums.net/threads/reduced-vintage-omega-seamaster-ref-14744-gold-champagne-dial.85360/

And this also

https://omegaforums.net/threads/red...c-caliber-19as-black-dial.99929/#post-1308406

And still having enough to wear them both out for dinner with the misses and a bottle of your favourite drop.

The watch in question is way overpriced

Patience is a virtue
I have trouble balancing that against living for today because you never know what tomorrow brings 😀
