So Whats The Story Behind Your User Name and Avatar

I came up with my lame nickname by starting with the word "watch" and then appending and prepending random adjectives until I came across one that I didn't hate. I since regretted it but what are you gonna do? The image was my quick and dirty picture of a DSOTM through my Persistence of Memory filter.

Persistence of Memory filter? Is this an app? I am a Dali fan, so would like to know more...

My nick is more mundane. When I joined a forum for the 1st time, I was confronted with having to choose a name and lamely thought of caller. I use it for all the boards I'm now on. Same with the avatar, which is a tokay gecko. I put it together myself and in every other board it fits into the window! The story behind it is that one night, back in 2005, sleeping in breeze block walled, corrugated iron roof house, in a typical poor northern Thai village, I kept hearing this very strange metallic sounding noise followed by what appeared the words 'tokay' being shouted out. I thought I was dreaming, but when I queried this in the morning, I was shown the culprit half way up the wall. These things are huge and can be vicious, but are tolerated, because they eat all the other undesirables. Had a thing about them ever since - here's what they sound like:

Sorry, not really a "filter", that was just a figure of speech.

My account was hijacked by my 17 yo son. He decided it would be hilarious to post of pic of Mom's watch as my avatar. He knows how much I love digital watches, lol.

USER NAME: I'm an assistant thrust manager (co-pilot) on the MD-88/MD-90 at Delta Air Lines. "MD" stands for McDonnell Douglas...but has transpired to mean other things. The MD-88/MD-90 is often called the "Mad Dog"...whereas the B-717 (MD-95) is often called the "Mini Dog" and the MD-11 is often called the "Mighty Dog". Anyway, I'm probably going to move over to the left seat (Captain position) on the Mad Dog at some point and retire on it...so I might as well make it a user name. Does that make any sense? Nope.

EDIT: CURRENT AVATAR: The office from a previous life...the SH-60B Seahawk helicopter. I'm a former Naval Aviator and flew the Seahawk while on active duty...

EDIT: FORMER AVATAR: I'm a BIG FAN of Dunkin' Donuts coffee...so when I saw the ridiculously humongous Dunkin' Donuts coffee cup floor ornament at Boston Logan Airport...I had to get a pic standing next to it...

Avatar for most europeans is obvious, Polish Eagle with crown, pre USSR intervention in my home country. Novina has a slight mistake as I was registering late at night, but it should by Nowina. Polish clan that dates back from before the year 1000. Research done by my father's cousin ( a University of Krakow professor, my deceased) traced our family history back to this clan. We ourselvies (current family name) received nobilty in 1430. My personal family history is still dear to me and I do have plans of returning "home" sometime in the future.

Boring story really. Togri is the username I have at work and somehow people have also started calling me that instead of my real name. The v. 2.0 is because I had another account before just named Togri, but it stopped working with the new forum interface. So now I'm version 2 of myself.

Avatar is me climbing on a wall 30 ft up.

Well, that blows my theory of where your user name came from 😀

So, what was your call sign from your rotorhead days?

@Togri...like this?

Note: Check out the hat...I bought it for $5 from one of the DD employees at one of the DD's in the RSW (Ft. Myers, FL) airport.
