I have some ivories, I’ll have to at least try it. I agree looks good as is too. Isn’t cool with some new and older features mixed? I’m looking forward to it. Comes in on the 21st, I’ll snap a few in hand pics when I go in to do the paperwork.
The first handgun I shot was a 25 auto. I was 6 years old my younger brother and I were at our family cottage. It was hot summer day and we were bored. My grandpa took a Beretta 25 auto out of an old shoe box. In the shoe box was the 25 auto and a couple hundred rounds of ammo. Grandpa took my younger brother and I out on the corner of our property. He taught us how to shoot. My brother and I had fun that day. Plinking away at old tin cans was big time fun for little boys.
My first to shoot was my grandfather's 1911 from the Korean war, which he took us out to shoot when I was 10 or 12 years old. When he passed away 15 years later I got his Rolex and my little brother got his 1911. (big brother got nothing big because grandma bought him 2 cars while he was in college). I actually didn't buy my first gun until 2 years after he passed, a Beretta .25ACP with tip up barrel, which I later sold to get a Glock 17.
First Handguns Fired First handgun I ever shot was either my uncle's U. S. Model 1873 "Artillery Model" Colt Single Action Army .45 Colt (top) or else his Smith & Wesson Model 15 .38 Special. It was on separate occasions in summer of 1968, but I can't now recall which came first. One of my cousins brought that old Colt Artillery Model to a family get-together do and I took photographs of it with an old commercial Colt Single Action Army I have. His younger brother had the Smith & Wesson Model 15 along on a turkey hunt a couple of years ago (below - 4-inch barreled revolver at bottom right now belonging to another cousin). First firearm I ever fired was my father's M1 Carbine in 1963. I was 6 years old. He had to help me support it. I thought it was so loud and such a powerful rifle. It's seen here at top.
Damn, the M1. Had one and sawed off the stock and made a pistol grip. Talk about a nice truck gun. Sold it 30 years ago, wonder who has that illegal puppy.
It's heresy I realize, but I prefer the M1 Carbine to the much vaunted AR 15 for use as a light rifle. If the M1 Carbine is too light than something in .308 or .30-06 is in order.
Simplicity on the M1 Carbine and the big brother M1/M14 as long as you keep from snapping your finger off in action. I have sold too many guns. Wish I had them all back.
21 years old and still never missed a beat. I really like this K9 last night I was thinking of tearing the k9 down and bead blasting the frame and slide. This morning after a good cleanup I scrapped that thought. I had the k9 at the range over the weekend and she sure was filthy. A little tlc goes a long way. I spent about an hour on the k9 doing the cleaning and lube and now all is well
My EDC is a Delta Elite, since I teach it resides in my glove box most of the day. I think 10mm is an excellent round but I'd happily carry a 38 super if I had one as I'm a big fan of the round.
Yes and I was wrong, this one has a 1965 proof mark so it was made in the mid 1960s. They were available plated and engraved.
Very tasty I'm in the market for a 10mm not sure on the maker yet I'm looking very hard at Dan Wesson.
Dan Wesson's sure "flavor of the month ... year(?)" with good reviews abounding and with lots of folks out there snapping them up. I don't have near enough diversity in the 1911 menagerie on hand as prancing ponies adorn mine including a 10mm Delta Elite that has been well-mannered so far.
Haven't browsed this thread for quite some time and just saw this. I do some informal steel plate pistol competitions. Did my first long range competition about a month ago. Shooting a Ruger Precision Rifle in .308 25 steel targets ranging from 400 yards to 1,000 yards. Up to 3 attempts at each target. Managed to hit 19 out of 25 and finished 49th out of 59 shooters. Still pretty happy. Just learning to read the wind. If you're off by 1 mph on the wind at 1,000 yards, you're off by a little over 12" Targets ranged from torso sized down to MOA round plates. Last target of the day was an 8" circle at 815 yards.
