The 1911-guns are my favorite automatics of all time. I like owning 'em. I like shooting 'em. I also like collecting a few military contract models in with the menagerie here.
Here's the 1911 tribe on hand here as produced by Colt including some wild and wacky chamberings.
Well, top gun is the boss and not a 1911, but rather a Colt Model 1905 .45.
Second row: 1916 British Government contract .455, 1918 Colt Model 1911 .45 ACP, 1944 Remington Rand 1911A1, 45 ACP
Third row: 1947 Colt Government Model .45 ACP, 1960 Colt National Match .38 Special (yes .38 Special) wadcutter, 1967 Colt Government Model .45 ACP (the main shooter/toter), 1979 Colt Government Model Mark IV 9mm Steyr
Fourth Row: 1982 Colt Government Model Mark IV 9mm Luger, 1982, Colt Gold Cup .45 ACP (well, I purchased new in 1982, serial number indicates 1979 production), 1983 Colt Service Ace .22 Long Rifle, 1997 Colt Government Model 9X25 (out of order with the next one)
Fifth Row:1992 Colt Government Model .40 S&W, 2014 Colt Government Model .45 ACP, 2016 Colt Delta Elite 10mm, 2020 Colt Government Model TALO .38 Super.

I think it dated to 1917 but not sure. The slide is wwii.

·Yesterday, we had our yearly pilot picnic at our pilot buddy’s farm in Kentucky. The wife unit and retired airline pilot, MacGyverette, got to give our friend’s pink Taurus 380 the old college try…while wearing her matchy-matchy pink dress as well as her Rolex Lady Datejust…good times…🤪…

·Interesting threath for me. I love Guns, specially vintage hunting ones. I had a small nice collection including some fine Over and under Merkel, J.P.Sauer , some beautiful Mannlicher Schnauer stutzens , some CZ, a Remington 700, Winchester mod 70, 94 etc A nice DWM Luger in original .30 cal some S&W and Colt Revolvers among others.
Sadly I had to sell them to start a business and also things in my country have become difficult and it is not a sport that you can practice easily...it is difficult to obtain permits, ammo, transportation licenses etc. So I think I had my share of them and keep only collecting Watches that I love too.

·That’s a very nice stock. Was New England Firearms part of Harrington & Richardson?
Both are merely Brand names now but I don't believe anything is made under the NEF banner currently.

Was about 1992 and we were taking our two sons out to our old family place on a lake when I got home from work one long summer afternoon.
I didn’t have a .410 on hand so asked Mrs. noelekal to stop by KMart and pick up a cheap single shot .410 and a few boxes of shells loaded with small shot so we could introduce our sons, 10 and 7 to shotgunning.
Had a blast. They both took right to it. The little gun tagged along a few more times to the lake cabin (sitting on 165 acres) and also went on some of their early dove hunts. Since that tine it has stood in its corner of shotgun row inside the safe, awaiting the two grandsons to become old enough to put it to use.

It led to a long love affair with shotgunning, so much so I placed a shed in my backyard solely for shotgun shell reloading. Half devoted to supplies, half to progressive presses. 20yrs later leading to the Texas championships at the National Shooting Center in San Antonio.
Sadly, between tens of thousands of shotgun rounds, and magnum long range shooting, my poor right shoulder reminds me every day of every round fired.
So now I am back to a little 410, the gun I started with, as it is all my aging bones can now sustain. Ah, It was a great ride though.....every shot brings back decades of memories.

Here is the 1973 vintage Colt SP-1 I have had here since the late 1980s. Mrs. noelekal and our two sons ran it in high power rifle competition at the local level when our sons were coming up. I was always wedded to my beloved .30 calibers, the M1 and M1A for high power competition.
