The black SMP in he first photo looks fantastic with that brown strap. I've never thought of putting a leather strap on mine. Can I ask what sort of strap it is?

That's an OEM Omega Barenia leather band, deployment style.

I have blue, but find it only looks good on a blue strap. I think the black is more versatile and looks good on many different strap choices.

Black SMPc is indeed more versatile in leather band colors, but my blue SMPc looked great on tan Barenia leather and ok on black croc as well:

Yep, I have (had) both, but my son purloined the blue one - never seen him so happy, so was worth the sacrifice.

I have the blue version -- perfect for me -- never even considered the black one.

Both are so fantastic. If it is to be an only watch - I would lean towards black. Black goes with anything. If this is an addition to a collection, (maybe you already have a sub? Maybe you already have a black watch?) the blue might be good. Watch for watch it's a close call and I'd happily wear either

Part of me (not being an SMP owner, yet) is still yearning for the last of the wavy dials (2220.80.00) but mint examples I have seen recently are close in price to that of a discounted brand new SMPc. Is the latest, flat dial a considerably better buy/improvement, would it be fair to say?
the ceramic bezel alone, is enough justification to get the current one, is miles away better than the aluminium bezel.

I've had both. Sold the black and kept the blue and sometimes miss the black but I have other black watches and definitely made the right choice.

Oooh, the black Seamaster on the Bond NATO is sweet! Looks like the Zulu Diver band.

It's actually a Hello NATO Strap Zulu 2 piece 007, and I added an Omega buckle. It's a double layer, almost 2.4mm thick...acts like Kevlar, but could be nylon. $13 for the strap, $25 for the buckle. But I do have the official Omega red & black Bond NATO...just waiting for football season to try it out.

Methinks the blue is more versatile w more strap options. Go blue!

I just reread this post and I have to apologise. It's possibly the worst collection of grammar I've ever created.

Does the buckle rest in the center of your wrist? With some of the cheaper NATOs I have found the buckle sits on the side of the bottom of my wrist. The Zulu Diver however positions the buckle dead center.

Blue if you have any other driver that is black. Or vice versa. If you have one of each then go try them both on.
